So my aunt is a single mom and has one son, and he is the love of her life, but he does nothing at all. He is turning 18, never goes out, has no friends, doesn't want to study, just plays computer games all day, and blames his mother for all his problems, complains about her cooking, wants this and wants that. His father is also irresponsible, conning the mother out of her money (which is why they're divorced). What should my aunt do? She can't just kick him out on the street though. There must be a better alternative. Need to get him out living with others, but how? He hasn't applied to college, has no interest.

ive heard that young ppl that dont have any motivation, should take a gap year, this will help them experience the world and appreciate what they've got, and they'll come back with a different personality and outlook on life (most of the time), im taking a gap year after 6th form just to experience the world, and make me realise what i have in my life. anyway, i suggest that u say to your aunt that maybe it would be good for her son to take a year ot and go and do some voluntary work somewhere, or do paid work!, somewhere where he has to do something, not like america where he can do the same stuff as in britain etc, but somewhere like Africa, working for projects to help ppl.
i'll give u a couple of websites that i have found to be useful for me, they offer an enormous range of gap year options and give great advice.
i hope this helps xx

Why can't she kick him out? Ah, because she's a doormat, and since her ex is out of her life, she is happy to get her daily dose of abuse from her devil spawn.
OK, sarcasm off, here's the deal.
Your aunt needs to sit her son down and have a very frank talk with him. She needs to tell him that the free ride and the brattiness are over as of now. He needs to enrol in college, get a job, treat his mother with respect and do the chores around the house that she gives him. Then and only then can he spend some of his free time playing computer games. The first day he does not live up to his obligations, he has 30 days to find another place to live and move out.

There is this one thing called "tought love" your aunt should look into some of this.
If this dose not happen soon then this boy will be a man that will mooch off of his mother until she can no longer take it.
Try taking to him about getting some motivation and getting a job or getting into school, show is mother that he is going to one day be something other than on her couch!

Good luck

It is up to His MoM she is enabling him she has to stop. she has to put her foot down and MEAN IT. NO pussy footing around or it wont work. SET him down AND give him his terms pay rent clean cook and save and then move out or option 2 do nothing and get booted out to homeless shelter. I will help you get in to one. they will let you sleep on the floor until a room is available. not a threat follow thorough the whole thing he will grow up much faster. op 3 military

By law he is considered an adult man and your aunt needs to set a deadline for him to get a job or get out. Adult men need to learn to fend for themselves.

she needs to cut off the finances and tell him that if he doesn't get a job or go to college he will have to leave. if his father wants to support his slacker ways more power to him. she is not doing him a favor by letting him be a bum.
