Tell them you love them and be there for them whenever they need you, day or night. A listening ear is what is needed right now, a shoulder to cry on and a rock to lean on, be that rock.
Death is so hard to deal with because we feel that we never really get to say goodbye, never told them how much they meant to us and always wish for one more day with them.
You sound like an awesome friend, they are lucky to have you in their life. There are going to be rough times ahead for a while, be strong for them when they just can't.
Good luck and bless you dear!

YOU CAN NEVER CHANGE THINGS LIKE THIS!
Let's come to the reality that life is full of surprises and death is one of those bad surprise that welcomes anybody. I knew how you feel and i undergone this kind of concerns. But let's accept that, we can never take things back no matter how we try to change things in the way how we supposed to do. We are just humans. Death is not actually Goodbye but a beginning of a new life. All you can do is to give your symphaty and feel her that she'll never be alone. Try to explain the evolution of one's life in a nice perspective. It's fresh memories for now but later she'll be able to recover from things that had ever happen to her, to us. In this life , there is no permanent. Nor even the plants or other creatures evolved and changed likewise us.

Sorry to hear about your friends mum.
You can let your friend know that you are there for her to listen to her, talk to her and be a shoulder for her to help get her through this difficult time, sometimes a friend does not have to say a lot,esp at times like this, just being there for your friend will be of comfort to her.Be patient with her if she is crying then this a release for her grief. Just be her friend as you always have been.

Be there for your friend, you don't have to say a word--when my Mom died my friend just was there and was there--she didn't say anything but she let me talk and cry and talk--and had very large shoulders and lots of Kleenex--and listened alot!!! Hugs to your friend--not an easy thing to lose a Mom!!

well. you can definitely just be there for her. Give her space but let her know that you will always be there for her and if she needs anything.. youre there.
my dad died a while back so i kinda know how shes feeling and i know that i was happy to know my friends were there and maybe you should just make her cards or take her out shopping. whatever she likes to do. i dont really know how old she is either but anyways just be there for her. :]

Let her be sad, wait for her to seek your comfort then listen to her with a sympathetic ear.
