Do the Marines and Army people now know they are fighting a losing war?

They should know...... 70% of Americans are against the war. It is "Vietnam all over again".

Yes of course they do. Some may put on a brave face for mom or the spouse, but the blatant disregard has been so obvious from the get go. After the drumbeat recruiting. ( I mean going to the poorest neighborhoods and outright lying about departure, benefits tours of duty...blah, blah... they had no longer landed when Bush was asking to cut danger pay, medical care, equipment, firing Generals who spoke out against the mistreatment of the troops.
They are now aware that Dick, George, Rice,Rumsfeld, Wolfiwitz, and surprise surprise, Exxon Mobile, Chevron,Shell,Haliburton, Unical and Shell and of course the companies and people that approved George W.H.Bush whom sold Iraq the biological weapons.that even if he had not destroyed them all as they knew he did. They would have biodegraded by now rendering them useless. On top of all that, Greg Palast's latest book "Armed Madhouse" he shows over 300 pages of documents proving that the boys in Houston wrote the war plan. There were actually two plans Bush picked plan Houston.
Here is the real kicker. Yes the war is all about the oil, but not the reasons you think. Control and dominance are factors, but you see satellite imagery back in the 1970's scared the crap out of them all Exxon Mobile was sure gas would go to 5 cents a gallon at the pumps. You see oil is everywhere. Venezuela has 5x all Saudia Arabia ever had, and shows no sign of depleting at all, they actually keep finding more. Mexico is swamped in oil, Russia is full of black gold as are the seas, albeit harder to drill. Never the less with China's and Indias demand for energery growing daily, CONTROL is still what the oil boys in Houston want as spelled in the documents they have always partnered with OPEC (that is a treasonable offence alone) Remember Wolfiwitz (promoted to head of the WORLD BANK) said " the war will pay for it's self once we get the oil running? HA! the plan is to stop the flow of oil in the Middle East. At least parts of it. Like Iraq and Iran. That will give them control over the price of oil with China and India and inflate domestic prices and keep them up.(in their respective the war is won, now it;s just messy politics) When they first realized oil was hardly rare they started that whole "PEAK OIL THING" amongst others. So by now the troops for sure realize they are killing people on a grand scale that has never ever done them any harm except trust them and believe in the words we write on paper like the constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence, etc. way more then we ever do. The ones fighting now are fighting for survivial, and homeland.....Mary.

I would imagine 99.9% of the military that are fighting this thing are against fighting anybody. So it was in my little fracas, Vietnam. Orion summed things up nicely for the troll with his comments, but you were a little too nice. Trolls don't understand nice. They just want to stir the forum up for their own pathetic ends. I could give a crap about the politicians. I'm behind our men and women fighting over there 100%! In fact, I'm going to go welcoming home around 200 soldiers returning home from Iraq for 2 weeks R&R Sunday.

Hmm. Yeah, I think most of them are aware that they are kicking butt on the battlefield (again) and that cowards and traitors back home are trying hard to take their victory away. Just like in Vietnam. Though that is pretty much the only parallel between the two situations.

I think most of them see people like you burning US Soldiers in effigy, holding up signs saying "We support our troops when they kill their officers", defecating on the US flag, voting in Congress to cut off their funding and generally doing everything POSSIBLE to help their enemy.

And you know what? Because they are better people than you are, they are still true to their duty. Because they believe in the United States and because they have hope that the grown-ups will prevail back here, they soldier on.

Because they LIVE (Whether Airman, Sailor, Soldier, or Marine) the Army Values....

But you wouldn't know anything about those, I'm quite sure.

The funny thing about the ironically named Erudite is that with every post he damages his own cause and gives Military folks a chance to SHINE in response. He's turned into a pretty good recruiting tool. People read his droolings, then they read the responses and it's not hard to come to the right conclusion (I've had a couple of people e-mail me after his posts, asking about joining a service). So in a way, even this parasite is serving a useful purpose.
