ive fasted from tv. that was very helpful. one because it showed me how un-important tv was and also it allowed more time to take care of important things, and it aloowed more times to be invested into God

I seriously Doubt that the 'Lord' has any interest in my culinary habits. Anyway fasting is an eastern Mediterranean invention and would not work well in places like Kenya or the Amazon. Anyway fasting has more to do with good advice for husbandry and animal management (in the eastern Mediterranean) than religion.

Anything you can do to deny yourself in order to focus on God is a good thing. When I fast I usually go full bore....no t.v., no Internet, no food, etc. I take away all the things that I "love" and concentrate on God. A juice fast is a good way to start out....maybe a 3-day fast. A strictly water fast is not as bad is you would think....the hunger pangs go away after a couple days. I have just done short fasts---3-7 days. Would like to try a 40-day fast, though. One thing I know...fasts work...they heal your body physically and spiritually.

I always like a media fast the best. I only watch or listen to Christian programming for whatever amount of time I pick. It's alot easier to get close to him when you cut out all the extra stuff. Also, a complex carb fast is great too. Only fruits/vegetables as carbs, no sugar, breads, etc. That works for me because I crave those things alot. That one makes me lose weight and can start to feel like a diet to me, though, and I don't want to "fast" for the wrong reasons.

I did a vision quest type fast about five years back. Out in woods, no food for four days, it was pretty cool after the hallucinations started. I didn't see jesus, but now some fox is stalking me.

since about last Oct. I have been doing my studies, intense studies. I have cut my food intake by over half. and what is odd, I have not lost weight or am not hungry. Like HE has taken care of making sure my body got enough from the little food I have had.

Slim fast. Since no gods exist, taking up less volume makes me closer to made-up people who take up none whatsoever.

That would be between me and Him. But I can tell you that if your heart is right, you will totally notice a difference. When you find yourself getting out of focus with why, stop. The lesson's over.
