Definitely Lorena Ochoa, LPGA rookie of the year 2003, also known as 'La Tiger Woods Mexicana'.
She holds LPGA Tour records for most birdies in a season (442), most rounds under par in a season (75), and most rounds in the 60s in a season (51).
The year 2006 was a breakout season for Ochoa, who posted six victories, including a stirring come-from-behind win at the Samsung World Championship where she outdueled her playing partner, Annika Sorenstam, in the final round. She also won the Tournament of Champions by 10 shots with a record-breaking score of 21-under.
Earlier in 2006, she fired a 62 at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the lowest round ever scored in a men's or women's major... and as I write this she is currently leading the Safeway International by a stroke.
She's only 25 and has 9 LPGA tour victories under her belt. Look for her to really take control of the LPGA as Anika's hold on #1 begins to loosen.

There are several vying for #1. The leader by most accounts would be Lorena Ochoa at this time... She really seems to be on top of her game. But don't count out Paula Creamer, She is ahead of both Ochoa and Sorenstam right now.

Definitely Ochoa. The season she had last year was the best of any woman golfer for 2006.

I love these answers. Lorena is my favorite LPGAer. I think she's second best also. Remember this name if you don't already know it. Alexis Thompson. She's 12 now and I think she may surpass Lorena and Annika. She played at my club from 5700 yds. and shot 71. That was last year when she was 11.
