ohhkk tats cool and there are many aspects to dat question....
1.the moon was not out dat means it cd b day time or it cd be a no moon day
2. u say his lights were not on ....umhmm i dont think a man has any lights...its even hard to imagine... the mans lights were not on bcoz he has none and the trucks lights were so guess the trucks lights provided him with the necessary light(if it was a no moon day) and the man saw the lady with his EYES of course

cause he aint blind. it would be her seeing him that would be the problem because how she supposed to see a black van coming with no lights on but surley he can see sumone walking across the road..
