Yes, we have become too paranoid. Much too paranoid. Most people live in constant fear of things they aren't sure even really exist just because the TV says they should be afraid.
Girls, guys today don't want anything different then they've wanted all through history. Sure, we want sex, but really, mostly we just want your attention and approval. And the sex.
All of human civilization is just a ploy to impress the opposite sex. It sounds stupid, but, really that's what it comes down to, and if you're all too afraid of us to ever say "yes", then it's all for naught. Take a chance. Live your life. Don't be afraid to give a guy a chance to turn out to be a prince.
The rapists are the exception, not the rule. Just give us a chance to impress you, so we can be fulfilled and justify all this stuff we've built for you, like all the tall, phallic looking buildings and the fast cars. Women, if it weren't for you, we guys would all live in caves. We're only civilized because of you. Your greatest protection, and the main reason why you shouldn't fear men is that you inspire us to be civilized, in the first place. We care that much about you.

"Romance" is dead partly of women's liberation, the feminist movement etc and also in practcal terms because being "romantic" for a guy - means he might be tagged a "nice guy" - which is the best way to kill the big "chemistry" chicks crave
Now some guys can balance out being a jerk (a controlling, cheating, liar) - the kind chicks love - with being a bit of a romantic - e..g sending flowers, holding doors, going to dinner and movies, strolling under the big city lights - all that kind of thing
Then. while the typical chick is very suspicious of his motives and worried about his cheating - she will generally react favorably - because she realizes the guy is definitely not a nice guy
It's a bit of a balancing act

well, if a guy tries to hard it is a clingy thing but if he stops everything then he has lost interest in her eyes, it's sad but true the guy needs to give a little and far between to be a good romantic in todays society

Because you women need to understand that no matter what we are dogs, that's what we are supposed to be, all we care about is sex, we use all the flowers and compliments to get you into bed, and that's the truth I'm not trying to be mean here.

I think that this is a product of a backlash toward men who were romantic/chivalrous. Women took it as men treating them as les than they were and the true source of these behaviours was to respect them. Now men don't know where they stand and what they are taught either through TV or their older male counterparts is outdated by the time they reach the age to display these things. Simply know your woman and what she values as each vales different things.

yes we have, i think that if a guy is sweet enough to shower a girl in compliments without askin for sumthin in return then thats awesome (great), guys need to show how much they love and appreciate they're girlfriends without worrying about what they're "boys" say
