I would first ask you the location of the boil. There is a condition called hidradenitis suppurativa that produces a similar biol, but it is generally in areas of skin-to-skin contact, such as the groin area, at the armpits, or around your breasts. It generally starts out with a small lump under the skin. Over time (sometimes a year or more) it will ultimately rise to the surface and excrect puss (like a boil). This is unfortunately, a very dibilitating disease because it reoccurs in the same area. Often times people go to a doctor to have them lance the boil, which provides temporary relief of the pain that occurs as a result of the build up and pressure under the skin. But this is not a solution to the problem. It will, in almost all cases, return. Research this and see if what you read is anything similar to what you have.
As for your existing problem with the boil, do not squeeze it. You will need to go to a dermatologist to get a prescription for antibiotics. This will make the swelling go down in a few days. It is important to get on antibiotics so that the infection does not spread.
Good Luck!
Your Friendly Dermatologist.

A boil is a skin infection that starts in a hair follicle or oil gland. At first, the skin turns red in the area of the infection, and a tender lump develops. After 4-7 days, the lump starts turning white as pus collects under the skin.
The most common places for boils to appear are on the face, neck, armpits, shoulders, and buttocks. When one forms on the eyelid, it is called a sty.
If several boils appear in a group, this is a more serious type of infection called a carbuncle.

You might want to see a dr to get a script for some antibiotics if the warm compresses don't work. I would see a doc too if it is in your armpit or groin.......
