i would say that if the engines is running stop it and don't start again until you change the oil and filter ,the noise is possibly some valves sticking but they will free up after some use. your brakes are ceased up from lack of use. run the car with the hand brake on slightly just for a little bit, this should help to free them up or use the brakes while in reverse

all the best Brian.

Naturally, check the pads.

I want you to place the vehicle on jack stands, after lifting the front end with a floor jack and leave it there. Press the brakes to see if the pads squeeze correctly.

If the pads are thin, or bare replace them.

If your rotor is very rough, take it to Checker Auto, or a local machine shop and have them turn the rotors.

If the brakes queeze but not evenly, and by this I mean...looking at only one break, lets say driver's side. If the pad itself does not move as one, left side before right, vise versa, or only one side or the other. I want you to take out the caliper slides. There are easy to find once you take off the caliper. The there should be two of them. Just take them out, clean them with a rag, rub until there is no gunk on it. Twist some paper towels and swab the inside of the caliper where the caliper/slider pins go. Almost like cleaning out your ear. After that, grease the caliper slides and place back into the caliper. That will eliminate the uneven break wear, and provide a more powerful stop.

If none of these work, I can only assume that you have a leak in the break line somewhere. In that case you should fill the dot 3 break fluid to the brim and pump while a friend looks for the leak. It should be pretty obvious.

The only other thing I can think of it that your cap on your break fluid has a crack on it, that keeps the system from having any hydrolic pressure, or that you just didn't put the cap back on.
