The University you take AFROTC at doesn't really have a bearing on your chances of grabbing a Pilot slot.

Your test score's on the AFOQT and the Test of Basic Aviation Skills (TBAS), has the biggest impact.

Those two test are what are used in the pilot selection process.

Pilot (or other) selection is made in your Junior / Senior year in the ROTC Program... Pilot training is made on physical qualifications, grades, and your evaluations by instructors.

My lil brother was selected for Pensacola, but his Senior year got in a car accident, had glass in one eye, and was found NPQ (Not Physically Qualified) for flight duty. He went on to serve 6 yrs in the Surface Fleet.

UC Berkeley ROTC programs are just FINE... though there IS a fair amount of harrassment and BS from other CAL students !! In 1986, the combined ROTC building was burned by arson.

My lil brother went thru the NROTC program at CAL... full scholarship (nice to have no student loans after graduation) and LOVED his 5 yrs there !! I visited a few times and met some great people in his program... I was a Navy AW2 (E-5) aircrewman at the time.

Good luck !

I would say CAL because in general it is a military hating town so how many people are going to CAL thinking about a military career. You would be surprised how under utilized any ROTC, NROTC or AFROTC programs are. Contact the schools program directly and ask them your questions, they will be glad to talk to you and tell you everything about their program. Contact them before you apply to the university, you will be surprised also that you could get a 100% free education just by entering their program.

AECP isn't an highway to Undergrad Pilot education. You examine that your self. So now chuck that concept. your superb determination precise now would be to cancel any duties you made to enlisting contained in the Air rigidity. confident, you're able to try this without repercussions. next, save on with for the Air rigidity Academy. you may earn a level at between the countries maximum prestigious faculties and that they are going to instruct you the thank you to fly. If that fails, bypass to college by utilising way of ROTC. i'm beneficial you comprehend you need to be an Officer to fly, so why no longer get your fee precise now? ultimately, in case you % to brush aside my suggestion and enlist besides, or in simple terms desire to get contained in the provider precise now, p.c.. any aircrew AFSC (1A's). e mail me with to any extent further questions...

you won't be a pilot in ROTC. And if you want to fly jets....Go Navy, they have more aircraft and MORE pilot opportunities than the Air Force. And if you wear glasses...your OUT...you must have 20/20 uncorrected vision, plus all of the other qualifications.

Berkley has ROTC? You don't apply for a job until you're in your sophomore year, I think. It's basically a big crap shoot, and your grades and test scores will have more to to with it than anything else. You probably compete nationally for pilot slots.
