Ok, so I was born with the ability to see and feel energy. I can see peoples' (most, but not all) auras. I am Christian and I have talked to my preacher about this to see if he thought it was bad. Since I was born with it I couldn't see how it was a bad thing, and he agreed with me. He told me that if I was worried about it I could pray for God to take it away if that was His will. I have done this and it has not gone away. My preacher and I believe that He must have some purpose for my having this ability to serve Him.

Christians, what's your take on this?

I didn't mean to make it sound as if I was trying to get attention or to 'boost my gift' as it was put. It's just something I was wondering about and what other Christians thought. Just really curious about it. And I honestly have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it.

likedbysome -- to answer your questions: yes I'm saved, yes my mother has it too, my preacher said he wasn't sure what it was, just that he believed it came from God, perhaps eyes of truth, he said. I've researched energy and I can see how it can be used for good and bad, and I haven't ever tried to hurt someone. If I really try I can direct the energy and I've noticed that I can clean someone's aura if I try. I don't know what God would want me to do with it, but so far He hasn't taken it away, so He must want me to do something with it.

I don't think it is "un-Christian" to say there are energies or something that we haven't yet discovered (think about electricity). The only way I think it is bad is if you turn to the New Age practices of "reading" those energies and instead give your gift to God.

Let God take control of your gift, and tell Him you want to use it to serve Him and expand his kingdom, and for that reason alone.

We don't know whether or not God has some surprises in store for us as to whether or not there are energies that are not able to be measured using instruments or by the senses of all the common persons.

Continue to pray, even when you don't have words to speak. Continue to open your ears to what God might be telling you.

God Bless!

He told you to pray to God for him to take it away!?!?!?!!!! You have is a gift. I'm not a christian but i am very knowledgeable with energy. It has nothing to do with serving God. I don't care it that's not what you want to hear but i know 100% that is NOT what you gift is for. Figure out how to help others and yourself in life with what you have been given. I don't know if you've reasearched it but there is tons of information about reading auras and energy...just search for it.

My wife has the ability to see energy. She finds it very valuable in her work of physical therapy as she can tell where energy blockages occur in her clients bodies. I am totally baffled as to why you would even consider this a "bad" thing. I believe a better approach would be to try to understand your gift. You have the ablitiy to "perceive" that most people don't.
Look within yourself for answers and you will find them. The fact that you asked your preacher and asked this question on Yahoo tells me you are looking elsewhere for answers, rather than inward in your own heart.

It is important for you to know what type of energy you are discerning. Are you sensing the anointing and God's glory on a person? Since you are born with it and not acquired it when you became a Christian it is probably not the spiritual gift of discerning of spirits given by the Holy Spirit. It would be good for you to see a matured and spirit-filled Christian who have the gift of discernment of spirits to determine the source of your perception. Is it of God or sometime else? God bless.

Use the gifts that God has given you for His glory. Only God and you know if you love Him or not. Who are we to say what gift God gives one and not another? I don't see "auras" as you put it, but I can see/feel evil and "good" in the different people.

hmm honestly, i think you are exaggerating for attention and to feel special, to boast of your talent,,,,

but i do hope that it is true, and trying to learn to do it myself...
I am not christian in the normal sense, i have studied many religions,,,, and adhere to the principles they all have in common

the reason to see auras would be to learn what the various type means, colors, shapes etc. what are the characteristics ?
also you would be a healer and need to use light to heal people..

forget christianity, the religion is prideful and arrogant anyway,,, it will inhibit you from seeing more clearly

Buddhists and Hindus believe in the chakras and auras
there is much research into this..... start with barbara ann brennan

I agree that the ability to see energy and observe auras are not bad. However, I don't see how this ability would lend itself towards serving God.

see and feel energy?...do you mean decernment?
what did your preacher say it was?
is what you think you have,... in line with Gods word?because if it isnt...its NOT from God!!
do either of your parents have this ability?
have you repented and asked Christ to be your saviour?
if not id advise you to do so,if you have done it great.
the reason im asking you all this is because in my 27 years of being a born again christian,I havent ever heard of a Christ follower being able to see peoples auras.
we are told as Christ followers to test all spirits to see if there from God.

The Lord works in mysterious ways, and as long as you do not abuse your gift then no worries.

Edit: I take it as you just wanted the views of those who believe. I really do not know how to tell you to use them, what I was saying about the abuse part is to take it and make alot of money and make a huge gain in life because of it. In this I would say that the gift of anyone is abused.
