Did you worm the little guy yet? All pups are born with worms and continue to get more unless they are wormed. Is his belly pretty round? This is one way to tell if he has worms.
He also could just not like the food that you are feeding him. Our little one did somewhat the same thing. She would only eat her dry food if we put gravy over it.
If you are afraid that he isn't getting all the proper nourishment you could always add a puppy vitamin to his diet.
The best thing would be to get him in to the vet for his puppy shots and worming.
Always better to be safe then sorry!
GOOD LUCK!!

Minnie,
Yes worms could do that. Call a vet (if you haven't already). If your puppy has not had his shots take him to a vet and get them. If he has had his shots and the vet doesn't think it's worms, then it's the food. Puppies are like children. You might have to try several things to get him to eat. Put some gravy or milk on his dry food. Table scraps can be good (meat and bones), but junk food isn't good for him. Make sure his water bowl is clean and full. It might just be any of a dozen simple things. He could have eaten something in the yard (or somewhere that is upseting his stomach). Keep trying and you'll figure it out. Maybe he's depressed and needs some time at the park or possibly he's just going through some puppy phase.

This could be signs of any illness. DO NOT FEED your Puppy scraps. Which I presume is Table Scraps. This is a Cardinal No-No for dogs especially Puppies.

He should only be eating a puppy kibble. He may have gotten spoiled on the scraps which might exlain why thats the only thing he wants.

Call your Vet and report his symptoms, and also admit the giving of scraps.

If Vomiting and/or Diarrhea begin, get him to the VET ASAP! This could be sign of Parvo, a Intestional Blockage or other potentially fatal condition.

If he is otherwise okay, wait it out and offer him Only Kibble/Puppy Food.

A Dog, especially a Puppy can't handle scraps and it upset their stomachs. What you think you can handle he can't. His little system is very sensitive and he can easily suffer indigestion.

Take his temp rectally if you can. If he has a Fever, then contact the Vet.

My guess is it's the scraps you are giving him and his system is upset and not wanting to eat til he feels better.

In the absence of Vomiting and/or Diarrhea, cook up some white rice and feed that to him. NO SPICES or additional salts or anything. Just plain white rice. This is what my Vet has recomended when My dogs (I have 3) have had stomach upset.

Good Luck!

There are so many possibilities here that it's impossible to say. One thing is for sure: puppies will eat more during times that their bodies are going through a growth spurt. They may eat like little piggies for weeks on end and then suddenly begin eating far less for no apparent reason.

When you say the puppy hasn't been eating much, you have to figure out if what he/she is currently eating is enough. Check the side of your dog food bag for the recommended servings for your puppies size and age. If the puppy is eating at least that much, you should be fine. Continue to monitor the puppys food intake.

If the puppy is not eating enough (compared to the guidelines provided by your dog food packaging) you have to take him/her to the vet.

Puppies will eat a lot sometimes and then less at other times. As long is your puppy is eating enough to meet his/her nutritional requirements then it's okay if the puppy is eating less than before.

Also, don't feed the puppy out of your hand for no reason. When I was younger I fed my puppy out of my hand because it was cute. The puppy eventually didn't want to eat unless I hand fed her. If you have been hand feeding him/her, then stop. Encourage the puppy to eat of of his/her own dish and not your hand.

Either way, you must take the pup to the vet if you find that he/she is not eating adequately for his/her size and age. There are many medical reasons a dog or pup would stop eating normally and you will not find the answer on this board. Only a vet can truly help your puppy if it is not eating enough.

was your puppy eating a different food before? I know every time we change foods my dos takes about a week to really start eating again. Eventually they should get hungry enough and come around. If they don't start eating better in the next maybe 2 days (like a whole bowl at least once a day) then you should take them to a vet ASAP.

Has your puppy been to the vet for vaccines and to be de-wormed? You must do this! If you haven't taken him for these, you need to. He could have anything, including worms.
As for your pup eating scraps. I'll feed my dogs a few scraps, but I never do when they are pups. That is a bad habit to start too young. One of my friends dogs would starve it's self before eating dog food, because it was spoiled w/ human food.

you probably shoodnt worry too much. a 3 month old puppy may be a little new to certain foods and if he wont eat his dry food he may just not like it. my dog wont eat dry food plain. it might be because he is too young and he might not be accustomed to these kinds of food. if the problem continues for a while, you should maybe call or see its vet. it may be homesickness if you didnt buy him from birth or when he was very young.

Yes, internal parasites can certainly do this. You said you believed he had a cold? This was probably kennel cough, which is very much like a human cold. Has he had his first puppy shots yet? Sometimes they have adverse reactions to thier innoculations, just like kids do. If not, he is due to start, and most vets routinely check for parasites when they examine a puppy.

Has the pup had parvo shot? Puppies are quite susceptible...

I should have added that with parvo virus, the dog has less energy than it should...

ADDED: Just saw your added. Good, I'm glad I'm wrong. I think your assessment is right, but rats!, it's the hardest one to fix! lol

Still, if he hasn't been to the vet yet, this is as good a time as any for health eval. and shots.

you could try changing foods. Try Natural Wet food. None of those tainted ones.. or switch to a new dry food. Since its a puppy, try adding warm milk to the food. Worked for my little kitten.. never know
