Christians have nothing against bloodshed, provided it's done righteously and/or God told them to do it. The Old Testament is full of God ordering the Israelites to go forth and make war on this or that tribe of infidels, slaughtering the men and "making use of" the women and children.
American Christians are very fond of teachings found in the Old Testament, but surprisingly less interested in all those things Jesus said about loving your neighbor and turning the other cheek.

First of all, where is this poll that says 85% of Americans are Christians? Second of all, war is very much a part of life. That's sad but it's also true. Why exactly do you think countries have armed forces? For fun? This war is an attempt to stop terrorism on countries and people who don't happen to follow a certain religion or idea. That has nothing to do with God. It has to do with human rights in general. I'm not a Christian but I will fight and die defending the rights of myself and anyone else who needs my help.
The draft isn't in effect. No one is sending their loved ones overseas to fight. Brave, selfless people are joining to defend your right to post "questions" like this. If that right was taken away from you (and believe it or not, there are people who would love to do that), you'd be the first to complain and probably the first to run & hide.
By the by, spell check is a wonderful thing. A rant is much more effective if simple words are spelled correctly.

The war in Iraq isn't about religion, therefore, it needs no religious justification. However, God has, in the past, many times, commanded His people to go and annhilate a particular evil people (the Canaanites, Philistines, et al). War just seems to be one of the sad facts of life on Earth, and a direct result of the Fall of Man. I don't think anyone today can possibly fight an honest holy war. Now it's all about politics and money and hate. God's not in any of that.

Although I hate war and killing, the current war in Iraq is a fight against terrorists. I am the first to admit that the war has not gone the way we would have expected or wanted but I believe everything considered it was at least in part justified. I doubt if many americans support the war but we will always support the troops. It was not them that made the decisions.

I dont think this war is justified by the bible because in it, there are three transitions:
1. The caveman killed his enemy and his family and descendants for the least provocation.
2. The rule for the Jews was a progression from this - take only an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth
3 The Christian commandments are even more progressive. Do good to your enemies and turn your cheek, as exemplified by Christ Himself and the many martyrs and saints.
Does this apply to politics? I dont know, but when the Romans went to the Pope for protection from the Barbarians who were allready sacking Rome, he said, if we have a protector like Jesus, then we have nothing to worry about.
...and, were not in the business of justifying murders.

Who said it was an "oil" war - anyways ? 9 - 11 was committed by non-Christians to complete innocent people from many countries, who worked in the Trade Centers. Will you have to become a victim of Terrorism to catch the "drift" ?
Quit attempting to create your own reality by listing Christians as "murders" - your freedom in this country you live in is shared by Christians and non-believers alike !

human beings are purely like the myth of the sower who positioned some seeds in rocks and thorns and that they are happy in basic terms for awhile yet then whither away. they have not any roots, purely asserting you think is stunning, yet then comes slightly extra artwork like discovering, analyzing, studying with regard to the deep roots of the religion because of fact the Apostles. That takes time far off from ipods, cellular telephones, television, movies and activities and that they think of those issues are extra substantial than to take 10 minutes to wish or examine. interior the season of Lent the Church asks us to speedy, pray and tithe (provide to the undesirable) yet human beings do no longer % something interior the way of standard habitual.. it takes them out of their convenience zones.

Who knows? Personally, I believe in justice through honorable death, but I'd be thrown in jail if I decided to kill in the name of justice, because there are so many who would disagree with my idea of justice. Everyone has ideas, and people choose to express them differently; nothing is perfect. If I claimed to be perfect, I'd be lying.
Besides, war depends on people, not religion. You can't accuse a country of going to war and then accuse them all of being "imperfect Christians".

Not everyone who claims to be a Christian is a Christian. We send our troops to fight the Muslims to defend ourselves. Remember they were the ones who started it and it is written in their Koran to kill all nonmuslims.
