Most luxurious would probably be the Global Express or the Gulfstream G-V. You buy the green plane and have it outfitted to your taste and budget. If you have a lot of money, the 60 million dollar price tag shouldn't bother you. Friend of mine in London has a BBJ with gold plated interior, including the seat belt buckles. Spent about 100 mil on it. With lots of money you can get as outrageous as you please.

You are going to need to get a license first, then you can make your choice depending on what ratings you get.
If you only have a private, you are going to be limited to less than 200hp, fixed landing gear, and fixed pitch prop.
If you get your advanced and high power rating, then you can move up to something like a Mooney ovation or Cirrus, which can cruise at over 200mph.
If you get your multi engine rating and the previous two ratings, then you can fly something like a King Air, which does something like 250mph.
Once you get your turbine rating, you can get into jets.
By that time, you are going to know what you need pretty well.

Personally, I would stick with a Mooney or Cirrus, because even though they arent as fast as jets, they can go to almost any airport (except the really really small ones meant for bush aircraft).
There are so many small airports, there will always be one closer to your destination than the major ones that airlines operate out of.
Just between Detroit and Chicago, there are dozens of airports, but if you wanted to take an airline, you would have to use just those two major airports.

For the last few years before I retired I was a part time aircraft accident investigator. During that time I saw the results of a number of crashes. It didn't take me long to decide that if I ever had to go down in an airplane I want it to be a Boeing. My feeling are completely subjective but they are my feeling none the less.

As for a particular model, the late model 737's are nice birds but it really does depend on what you plan to use it for.

I would reccomend a Cessna Citation X. They are the fastest private jets out there and they are gorgeous to look at. They can cruise at up to Mach 0.92 and can carry up to 12. Here are some places to look up more on them.

Give some serious consideration to the Beech Baron - a lovely twin, or a Cessna Caravan Amphibian - you can go ANYWHERE with one of those...

The Bizjets are nice, fast, and luxurious, but expensive to keep and operate too...

You should get the Learjet 45. Its a private jet and it is very fast. It costs about 2.3 million dollars. It has a good size cabin.

it depends if YOU are flying or not. as a pilot i would look at different things than someone who is not. what do you want out of it? what do you want to do with it?

it depends on whether you want a jet or turboprop and what size. you need to be a bit more specific.
