Her name is Molly Molly Bo Bolly, She is a pit bull. The draining of her eye had went away, Its not draining or pussing up no more, Now she has scratched it so much that she is making it almost raw , Then it dries up and scaabs. I have problems w/my eyes and my Dr has give me several antibiotic ointments to rid the infection. Do you think it would hurt Molly to use it in her eye ?

It may not hurt, but giving random ointments probably won't help, either. She really needs to be checked by a vet to see what is causing the problem, it may not be an infection at all. It could be entropion or a foreign object in the eye or any number of things. If she doesn't get it fixed, she would most likely eventually go blind in the eye and possibly lose the eye altogether. Take her to the vet before it is too late. It will cost a lot more if you wait until serious damage has occurred.

Ask a Vet first. Do NOT give your dog any medicines prescribed for Human Use, unless he directs you too.

If it's scabbing, it is obviously trying to heal. Since the eye is so sensitive, you need to at least call your Vet. I'd take him in if it were my dog. He could have small parasites in there that can be treated. Don't risk injury to his eye with use of what you think is the problem.

Better a $30 or so Vet bill then risking permanent injury to the eye or a procedure that will cost a lot.

For the interim, you can use a warm water wash-cloth with a Baby Shampoo (No tears), and gently clean the area and irrigate it with luke warm water and tap dry it with a paper towel.

thats horrible! my first question is why you didn't take her to the vet in the first place? Thats what you need to do, like you said you have eye problems you went to the doctor so does she. Also since you are obviously not a vet, or a doctor you can't prescribe medications for animals especially if you don't know what the underlying problem is, putting in eye drops could make it worse.

Personally I would never put anything in my dogs eyes that wasn't recommended by a vet. If anything call your vet and ask them.

NO WAY. never use any any human medicine on your dogs. Make sure you talk to you're vet because it may harm you're pet if you're tells you to do it, do it! but not don't!

I don't think you should without contacting a vet.
