I have had two chiropractor visits and two doctor visits for my ears. I have not even caught the slightest cold all winter. I have one ear infected and one ear that is in limbo. It's plugged but not infected. I've been on amoxacilin for 20 days and not much change. Dr said last friday that if it's not clear by next friday (5 weeks) the next step would be either Ear, Nose, Throat Dr for tubes or an Allergist for allergy testing. I am on Zertec-D twice a day and Rinocort, one spray a day. I am allergic to some laundry detergents, cats and some other unknown things. I can't afford any more testing right now, but would love to find out what's going on.

Has anyone else had ear infections due to allergies? I haven't had ear problems since I was a kid...I had tubes then.

i went to a ent and they gave me avelox. it worked miracles along with the nasal spray. try to prevent getting water in the ear while shampooing the hair. that water causes infections. no air in the ears from driving with the windows down. get some cotton balls and ear plugs also. but the ent will do a lot of test that will help you. they told me regular anitbiotics dont cure this problem. allergies trigger it also.

You might need to try another antibiotic. Amoxacilin might not be working for you or for your particular problem. It could be a bad tooth or your sinuses draining backwards (down your throat instead of out your nose). Allergies are so bothersome. My 8 year old son suffers from them... cats and dust I think. You can also have allergies to medicine you take I believe.... I'm not a doctor. Wish I could be of more help. One last thing- some people clean their ears with peroxide and that tends to keep them moist which is ideal for the growth of (bacteria or fungus?) Anyway hope you are better soon!

Yes. I have severe allergies. You are taking two decongestants that says to me sinus issue. When my sinuses act up i get a sinus infection and or an ear infection. If the antibiotics aren't helping you really should go back to the Dr.

A very simple procedure you might want to try is Lymphatic Massage for ear infections. I would do this first for a period of time before going to the extreme of medication and ear tubes. Go to www.webnat.com/ail.EarInfection.asp, scroll down to the bottom where you will see "mini-program" and click on to Lymphatic Massage. This is great for kids with reoccuring ear infections and it works for grownups too. Give it a try, what do you have to loose? You can also do a web search on "lymphatic massage for ear infections" and read through any of the listed sites for this condition.

Good Luck!

my allergies cause me to build fluid in my ears ect.

for years we though I had brain tumor or something and it turned out to be allergies. Doctors claimed they enver heard of ears being affected due to allergies but I know for a fact that when mine kick in, I get ear ache, dizzy ect.

Benadryl is the only thing that makes it go away.

I suggest taking benadryl.

ive tried other anti allergies and they didnt fix my ear issue. only benadryl does for some reason.

yep, actually I have chronic ear infections, too often for meds to work anymore, Dr told me this last one was the worst he's ever seen, closed my ear canal and knocked out my hearing for two month. My neice brought over mineral oil and tea tree oil mixed 10 drops of the mineral and 15 drops of the tea tree oil, used the dropper from the med Dr prescribed cleared it up over nite. Tea tree oil is sold in most drug stores. Good luck, I know how incredible painful those infections get.
