sometimes being self employed is good, but u still have to deal with ppl regardless. You can get disability if it is sever enough that you and your dr. can prove you just be around other ppl and deal with life in general. Get on meds if you aren't on anything, that may help. I am bi polar, would be glad to talk to you about if you would like. contact me at cobenour30@yahoo.com my name is carrie.
I have a hard time with bipolar, I used to be a big ppl person and I find it hard to be around alot of ppl anymore. I work for myself, selling avon, I have done partylite and marykay. I havne't worked in 3 years do to my disability of being able to function in the world.

I think people who are bipolar when looking for work need to consider the stress level of the job, they're own confidence in the job they will do. They need a consistent routine and that includes sleep, exercise, diet, medication. Some people that are actually well educated may not be able to do the work they had studied for. Everyone is different. Some people can handle a higher stress level than others. There is no clear line for bipolar disease, everyone is unique and varies from one person to another. Think about your strenghs, how much stress you can tolerate and how much you need stability and go from there as to what type of work you can choose to do. Good luck.

It is recommended you take your meds and keep up with therapy. Other than that you can do what ever fits your personality. A CEO of Jet Blue is bipolar among many other very successful people. I do think a lot of bipolar people feel comfortable working independently and enjoy being creative in there work enviroment.

yes i would say that you already did that, cause you added on to it. You know bi polar people can do any job they want, as long as they stay on their medications, so they do not get those really high highs, and low lows. I know a lot of people with the disorder that works in different field of jobs, and they are all doing fine. Now self employment could be an opinion, but you still would have to be taking those meds every day, at the time you need them, or you could end up destroying your own bussiness.

I've been told it's better to have a low stress job, with regular hours. My doctor is very displeased that I work graveyard, but I like my job, so that's what really matters. You're pretty much capable of doing everything anyone else can do, but you don't want to put yourself in a situation that may trigger a relapse.

I too have "issues" that is why I work at home on the Tarot line. No boss, no office gossip and I talk to a lot of really nice people. Set my own hours too.

a bipolar person is capable of doing the same type of job as a diabetic. what is important is that you have the proper training or degree to qualify for the job. send in your resume and think confidently.
