In Russian they generally use the word "lyet" speaking about age. For example "How old are you" will be "Skol'ko vam lyet". Also when you ask about any time interval: "How many years have you been living here?" will be "Skol'ko lyet vy zdes' zhivete?"
It's also the matter of combinality. With cardinal numerals from 1 to 4 and those ending in that numbers (21, 44, 103 and so one) goes "god" minding the declination (1 god, 32 goda, 63 goda, 94 goda...). With other cardinal numerals they use "lyet" (5 lyet, 48 lyet...)

The letter Я (ya) is pronnounced like ya in a stressed position, in an unstressed one it's is reduced that's why you hear something like ye. But it's no mistake if you say "ya" in all the cases.

"Znamya" means a flag, a banner or a standard. It's a cloth of a definite colour with a motto, an emblem or an inscription on it, attached to a staff, it serves as an emblem of a military unit.
It is neuter, the plural is (знамёна) "znamyona"

If u say skolko vam god"-it will sound like-how many years are you-which is incorrect.
If u say skolko vam lyet"-it will mean how old are u.

Ya-is the last letter in Russian Alphabet. It also means me,myself,I.
"Language" in russian means "yazik".Only 100% native russians pronounce "ya" as "ye".But there is no difference.

"Znamya" means banner, standart. This word is feminen.

:) Hope this helped u.
By the way, russian is my second language.

I am not a russian native speaker but I'm trying to learn it. As I know, god is year, just that, an ljet is more like ago, or when you want to say an aniversary of something, or an age. You should use ljet.
The sound of the Ya changes in some words, not in all.

Znamya means flag or banner, it's neuter.
Plural might be Znamii or Znamije, but I'm not sure.

Hope I helped.

Лето in Russian means summer. Traditionally age was measured in "summers" - therefore, you should use лет (genitive plural with numbers) speaking of age.

Я is pronounced at full value if it's stressed; otherwise it sounds more like schwah.

Plural of знамя is знамёна. It is neuter.
