I know the initial impression is to consider this question as redundant but those of you who smoke would know the importance of the question. Do you guys know any research results on this issue? Thanks.

My guess this is about trying to cut down on cigarette consumption.

Any amount of cigarette smoking is considered harmful. Because it does damage to the cells. People who smoke put carbon monoxide in thier body which effects the bloods ability to carry oxygen to the tissues in the body. Smokers suffer more sore throats, colds, and sinus infections than those who don't. Cancer, empysema, and cardiovascular problems take time to develop.

When looking at smoking history they usually want to know how much and for how long.

I have heard that most smokers need to smoke at least 7 cigarettes a day to avoid withdrawal. They have many products on the market now to help with the withdrawal.

It takes most smokers 7 tries before they successfully quit. It is not easy to do. Recent studies suggested it is as addictive as heroin.

you will never get a seriously honest answer to this as 100% of studies into smoking are bias, conducted by anti smoking lobby groups. the results already 'found' before the study comences
