the actual conversion factor is 3.2808 that means one meter will have 3.2808 feet.
Or otherwise you can approximate to every 10 feet is 3 meters for practical purposes.

A meter is 39.37 inches, which is close enough for most measurements...the least confusing conversion statement is there are 3 feet and 3.37 inches in a meter. Stating decimals for portions of a foot is often wrong and confusing.

3.2808 feet in a meter.
Here is how you learn it and you never forget.
All you have to remember is there are 24.5 mm in an inch.
Since this is an exact conversion, any figure you derive from it will be precise.
So 24.5 mm in a inch (Exactly).
Multiply by 12 (12 inches in a foot) is 304.8 mm in a foot.
Since there are 1000 mm in a meter, you got 0.3048 m in a foot.
The reciprocal is 3.2808 ft/m.
Hope it helps.

To answer this, we need to start of with a foot...
1 foot is equivalent to 12 inches... and 1 inch is equivalent to 2.54 centimeters...
1 meter is equivalent to 100 centimeters...
since we are looking for X number of feet in a meter, we'll have X ft. multiplied with the following conversion to be equated to 1 meter:
(X ft) x (12 inches x 1 ft) x (2.54 cm / 1 inch) x (1 m / 100 cm)
ft, inches and cm will cancel each other out, and you'll get a "meter" unit.
and X is equivalent to 3.280839895
meaning, there are about 3.28 ft in 1 meter...

Don't work approximately!
There are 1000 mm in a meter
There are 25.4mm in an inch.
there are 12 inches in a foot.
So one meter = 1000/(25.4*12) feet
=3.28 feet
=3feet 3.36 inches

First there are two 'kinds' of feet:
US survey feet (. (used by Engineers, Surveyors)
International Feet (Used by everyone else)
Conversion: 1 US Survey Foot = 1200/3937 metres
Conversion: 1 International Foot = 0.3048 metres
