I am not against to any game.
But when it gets to fanatic levels every one should be cautious about it.
Just see how much of national effort goes waste as county as a whole comes to inaction when cricket game comes on TV and Radio. No doubt lot of money is earned as advertisement revenue.
To my mind it appears to be peanuts when compared to national productive loss on the days when the game is telecast on TV and radio.
Can the media of Radio and TV can put their efforts together to eradicate corruption and poverty from India! Can they direct the nation efforts to wards job-satisfaction and encouraging people to acquire salable skills and self confidence. First step towards eradication of corruption employment to all. Can righteducation help?

Can’t we spend our energies zeal and money we are spending on cricket to eradicate corruption and poverty!!

what do you suggest?

I think we are wasting lost of time energy zeal time and money on cricket. It is high time that Media like TV radio should concentrate and find methods to popularize self-confidence-building measures, help people seek job-satisfaction or change their occupation to satisfying jobs.

Make serials where corruption is projected as leprosy that is making the character of the person rot, lose self respect, family tensions and relations etc. The damage corruption is causing to individual and the nation should be clearly projected.

May be realizing the fact that people and national resources are national assets and managing them as a whole and working for their betterment will help in long run.

The sooner the nation and our politicians realize the fact that the assets that can’t be maintained will be a liability to the nation and proper means should be devised before hand to maintain them so that they can contribute to nations welfare. This is applicable for both people and assets of the nation.

I personally feel that TV and Radio can do a lot in this connection as they did it to popularize the cricket game.

I Think the "hype" over such sports and celebs is promoted to keep the average Joe occupied while we run the world.....ahhh!

Kinda like when I have to do business at home and I give my kids a box of canyons and coloring book or turn on the cartoons. Keeps them busy while I take care of business.
It is a way to occupy the minds of the people -with what is truly trivial. But apparently if they are so easily distracted then perhaps it's better they aren't included in the BIG decisions anyway.

I would submit that the national preoccupation with a game is a way to avoid dealing with real issues. This is a good way to start the process, by opening dialogue.

Spending those energies on cricket means we're letting people know what's important to us.

Your naive view of the world would be amusing if you weren't serious.
