The first heaven is where the eagles fly (Lamentations 4:19).

The second heaven is where the stars are (Isaiah 13:10).

The third heaven is God's throne (2 Corinthians 12:2) which is beyond the space time continuum.

Many people say things like that.

My grandpa always made fun of his brother who was a priest. He would ask him how do we know that in heaven we have the same pork chops that we have here?

But the problem is that people think heaven is a place, but its not! Its a state a soul can have after death. Heaven is a state that is completely united to God, and hell is a state of a soul thats completely Godless because the person fougt so hard to be without God.

So can there be three heavens? I think that idea comes from the old times when people thought the sky was heaven. The first heaven where the birds fly, the second beyond the clouds, the third heaven was God's. But once we saw that the sky really is just the sky, we had to rethink our notion of heaven. We needed a deffinition thats in line with both the bibe and what we observe.

No?

The reference to three heavens in the Bible means this.
First heaven- the sky (where you see clouds and birds).
Second heaven- space (with the sun, other planets, other stars, etc).
Third heaven- the heavenly city with GOD's throne.

You have to remember that the Bible is a collection of ancient documents. As we think of heaven, there is only one. But the words in the Bible often translated as heaven can also mean sky or space.

Though there is only one heaven, there are different rewards in heaven depending on our lives here. Jesus said that the first shall be last and the last shall be first. A righteous saint who is persecuted his or her whole life and always seems to get "the short end of the stick" will get a great reward in heaven. Looking around the world, we see all kinds of injustice. Little children who have never done anything wrong are starving an Africa and Asia. But GOD will set everything straight in His time. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to Me, for of such is the Kingdom of GOD." Our suffering here is temporary, but our reward there is eternal. If we knew the truth, we would want to live very simple lives, help other people as much as possible, and wait for our reward.

GOD bless you.

Biblically there are 3 heavens: the first is the atmosphere, the second is space, the third is the dwelling place of God. Only 1 Heaven, but 3 heavens.

joanne: Yes; there are 3 "heavens". The atmosphere surrounding this orb, outer space and the Heaven where God's throne exists. The Apostle Paul, mentions the third (3) heaven (see: Second book of Corinthians chapter 12, verse 2)

In the JC-LDS orientation, there are 3 CATEGORIES of heaven, with many divisions within them. Read Doc&Cov 76 within the notion of "My Kingdom has many mansions" to get an insight into the Mormon concept of heaven.

In Hindu faith, there are nine billion billion heavens.

In Esoteric Judaism (ie, Kabbalah) there are seven heavens.

Many Orthodox Christian faiths DO NOT have a concept of heaven, but use a "Kingdom of God" to designate what we would term 'heaven'. To them, the afterlife involves participation in a Kingdom rather than a idyllic 'heaven'.

In Islam, the Garden of Eden is considered Heaven, and in the afterlife, good Moslem Souls are returned to this Paradise

Mark Twain remarked, when asked if he would rather be in Heaven or Hell, "I would go to one for the climate, the other for the companionship". This would imply that, for some, Hell is a heaven.

Dogen notes in the Buddhist concept that "Samsara (Earth) is Nirvana (heaven)",. In a loose sense, we create our own hell or heaven right here, right now.

Dante had a number of divisions of heaven in his "Paradiso".

Swedenborg indicated that there many heavens within Heaven, and that each person could create their own 'MySpace" type of heaven.

In the Bahá'í faith, Heaven is a 'state of being/consciousness where the prime indication of bliss is how often one is perceptive of God's Presence.

I mention all of these because there are many concepts of heaven or the 'best ending' type of afterlife. The only people who truly know this are those who are in heaven. To be honest, at times my life here on the planet has 'glimpses' of heaven...periods of total serenity and bliss...which to me is as close as I'll come until the moment of Truth....

I believe we have 7 levels of heaven, you could also read Revelations in the bible to find out the number. Mine was just a guess since 7 is god's number and the Hebrew translation of 7 means complete. I think it also took 7 days for God to create the earth and stuff. Plus 7 is my fav number!

That word heaven is used in three ways, first the heavens like the area where birds fly in, then the heavens like where the stars in, then the Heaven of heavens where God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit live and where YOU may live "IF" you love Him enough to obey Him because you BE-LIVE enough as it says in John 14:15, find out what the Bible says in free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com OR www.amazingfacts.org, talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless
