Either would be fine but I think the faux fleece would be more durable, it's not as prone to tears from sharp nails and teeth the only problem I could see might be cleaning. I have one with faux fur and is easy to clean any vomit from, I can wipe it with a damp cloth and vacuum it and it comes up good at new. My other half's Mom made some extra covers for me with elastic around the edges that can be removed and put in the wash, these are a godsend at times.

If you have a carpet retailer or layer around, often they will sell you cheap offcuts which are great to use for it.

Fleece seems to be the popular answer, however whatever you choose doesn't matter to the cat. With the furries, you could go with fleece and they might avoid it like the plague. It's like scratching posts. Been there, done that, then try to sell it at a garage sale. I'll pick fleece as long as everyone else is. Of course I don't have a cat condo. Don't need one. there are so many hiding places in our house the 3 catz are doing fine without one.

Faux (or real) fleece is much more comfortable than fur and animals tend to like it more. It is also much more durable. Think about it, what would you rather have?

Definitely fleece! I've had both for my cats and the fur rated a ho-hum while they all tried to crowd onto the fleece.

OMG! if i was a cat i would loooove the faux fleece. faux fur says "STYLE" in that pimp sort of way, but fleece is closer to the cat's hearts. my cats snuggle that sht like crazy.

Wash it. You would think that wouldn't be a good idea, that it would lose its softness, but we have several fleece blankets that we've made and washed. We have to, I have two cats. They come out feeling great and very clean.

My cat goes bezerk when he he sits on faux fleece. He sits there and kneads the stuff, his eyes glaze over, he drools intensely, he just loves the stuff.

Fleece is more comfortable and more durable. It also takes carpet cleaner a lot better.

Instead, try carpet, cats love it. But do not forget Sisal rope. Cats love to stretch their claws on it.
