I always thought I was scared of flying but I am also scared of elevators. And the more I thought about it I would think how scary it would be for them to shut the door and not be able to leave.

I am also claustophobic. It has really helped me to face my fears and practice deep breathing exercises in the uncomfortable situation. It is really impowering to face it head on and feel like you have conquered it! Take it a little at a time and try to experience it with a friend for support.

well there are so many different ways of doing that. One is to float yourself, and that would mean to put yourself in places that are so closed in that it really gets that clasutrophobic going, and you will need to do this time and time again, hospitals use this a lot, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't . Just never know, everyone is different. You need to try to relax, and just look at it as a ride like at a fair when you are in an elevator. If you can not do this along, then sorry to say you will need to seek out professional , help, cause you do not want to be this way all of your life.

If your fear is severe enough you can get help from a psychiatrist and ask about a drug called Xanax. The minute you take Xanax your fear completely dissolves.
