Don't say to "prove you wrong" or "to save us before its to late." God didn't ask you to prove him on scientific facts.. he said to have faith and search him out. I seriously feel sad for you all. You have to be looking for something in your heart of hearts.

It is in the human nature to seek out God. Agnostics typically believe that there is someone or something bigger than them out there. Athiests try to prove that there is not a God at all and that we are all responsible for our own destinies. They hang out to learn, and we should see them as a blessing. These people are searching for controversy. If you look at most controversial questions, these are the ones that receive the most attention and answers. Some people feel the need to reduce themselves to scum by saying their religion is better.

Why should religious questions only be left to those who "believe"? I have friends who have extensive religious knowledge and although they don't believe in the Christian God themselves they have their own view to present and they can also have an extensive enough knowledge that they can contribute some Christan views as well.
By listening to people with different views and knowledge bases one can learn much more than from listening to just one category of people. Instead of questioning why they're there you should be grateful that you are able to read their opinions and those of everyone who contributes a legitimate answer to any question.

1. We defend ourselves against misconceptions and misinformation about us (and misconceptions and misinformation about evolution, as it turns out).
2. Religions claim to be the source of morality, wonder, meaning, sexual ethics, and charity, so it's expected that these are discussed here. Yet these are universal aspects of the human experience, common to believers and nonbelievers alike.

Which one person can speak for all of us? The reasons are many and varied.
For me personally, it's a chance to develop and refine my own ideas about the nature of reality. And it's no-money fun.

They need to feel good about themselves by arguing with people they perceive to be dumber than they are. Most of them think they're "smart" simply by virtue of being an atheist, even though they are probably slacker liberal arts majors who know nothing about science, otherwise they'd be debating with people in the science section.
