When you start dating someone and it's been a couple months, and you have a profile with an online dating site, should you remove it immediately? If you agree to be exclusive (intimately) does that mean yes, remove profile?

don't remove it until you're engaged. Why not keep all your options open? Just don't lie to anyone you talk to, but there's no harm keeping it as back up.

Heck yah it's wrong to keep your profile on a dating site after having started a new relationship.

Think of it this way. . . You are dating someone and you discover they are going to the local coffee shop flirting with others...would that be o.k. with you? Don't think so.

Staying on an on line dating site after having began a relationship is no different then openly flirting with others at some coffee shop, party, social event etc.

It's just rude and disrespectful to the developing wonder of the existing relationship that has already be began.

As a dating consultant, I can tell you that a great deal of my clients keep their profiles active during the initial dating process. However, once you commit to one person for a relationship, having an active profile can lead to problems. I would suggest canceling your profile, and then re-activating it if things should not work out.

However, I can also tell you that I have had a great deal of success with another site. I switched to using it with my clients and have had a 90% success rate since I switched!

When you agree in the relationship to be exclusive then you need to get rid of the profile. It doesn't matter how long into the relationship you are.

The question should be : Why would you want to ? Do you worry that your relationship may fail ? If so then its even more likely to. If you keep any profiles active that may be found by your partner and, in which case, will cause him/her to think that your not too sure about him/her and that can only hurt any relationship. You should assume that it will work untill otherwise proven.

well if your happy where you are then you do not need to look for more options... right?
if you've been dating for a couple of months and you think its going to be exclusive.. take the profile off.. it will only cause problems
you could always put it back on if it doesnt work out

best of luck

I agree if you're still kinda just dating and not too seriously.
It's ok to have a profile, but change your status to taken/involved or so.

If you decide to speak to somebody on match.com on the phone or meet in person, you may wanna inform your current date about it,if you wanna do it the "right" way.

Good Luck!

When you make the decision to become "exclusive" with someone, that is when you should remove your profile.

if you've agreed to be exclusive, yes you should remove the profile. having that profile means you're still looking for something that you've (presumably) found.

yes, i would delete the profile or at least hide it. if it doesn't work out with the new guy then unblock it. i think leaving profiles up only allows temptation to creep into a relationship.
