I am going to a "Blessing" of a baby where a Rabbi and a Priest will be present. I have been to a baby naming and a baptism before is this a combo of both?? Do I bring a gift??

I gather from what you say that this is the child of parents of mixed faith. So, the Rabbi is there for the naming ceremony and the priest is for the baptism. They are having a mixed ceremony rather than two. Gift giving is always a nice touch but is probably not required

Blessings are traditional fixtures of many cultures and religions, often focusing on inviting Divine Assistance for the newborn and the infirm.

In the Mormon sense, a blessing is a bestowal of grace from Heavenly Father mediated by the Priesthood Authority of a Melchezedek priesthood holder. THese blessings do work and I have attended several. Normally, the priesthood holders will lay their hands on the child, and one of their number will ask in Jesus' name for a special blessing from Heavenly Father, noting specific circumstances as they prayerfully request a blessing.

The last blessing I participated in was an unexpected one when my Home Teaching Companion and I went to one of our regular visits and found the mother of the house in tears. Her dtr had just died the day before. She requested a blessing, and once it was finished, she had stopped crying and had a countenence of acceptance on her face.

Blessings DO WORK!

Christians don't have Rabbi's...Jews do :P

Never heard of a blessing of a baby. And I've been Christian my whole life...

a baby blessing, or dedication? well anyway it is not necessary to bring a gift if you wish, but a baby is indeed a fine blessing from the Lord

a blessing is a special prayer set apart for the child and for the babys future.it wouldnt hurt to bring a gift for the child and family though.im assuming lots of people would.i would definately bring a gift out of respect.

a blessing is also given to the sick and needy for comfort and peace and healing.
