unless you want to pick out of people's trash for food, it's pretty expensive to walk or hitch-hike to Ok. because it'll take you a long time to get there.
I'd say bus is the best/cheapest. it's a long drive but it's only an entire day. so count on spending about 20 for food. but the bus ticket is the cheapest ticket you'll find.
Train is good too, but i think you're gonna have a hard time finding a train from ny to ok.
Flying is the fastest by far despite the numberous stops you'll be making to get a cheap ticket. that and doing a lot of online research to find the cheapest. still it's probably cheaper than driving because gas is almost $3/gal and if you are driving anything than a honda civic type car, you'll be eating gas like crazy. and spending more than usual on munchies.

There isn't a simple answer, friend.
If you drive a gas guzzler, it will be high to drive. If you drive a hybrid it will be cheap. If you blow a tire, it will be high, if you buy a scratchoff ticket at the gas station in Illionois, you may recover some costs but probably not. If you drink tap water and eat baloney sandwiches it will be cheap. If you stop at Denny's for your cravings, it will not. If you drive straight through it will be cheap...if you have a wreck because you were too tired it will not. If you stay at a Marriot it will be high. If you stop at a campsite it will be cheap. You get the pic on driving. It's all about the trip and the vehicle...
Re: public transportation, all these can be competitively priced with each other, and better if you buy in advance or get a good deal with an online provider like Expedia or Travelocity or PriceLine. You just have to check the deals at the time of purchase. Sometimes prices are affected by fuel rates, other times they are affected by the time of day or the time of the year or upcoming holidays or long weekends.
All this info needs to be compared against the way your trip would go if you drove, and the amount of time you can spare (or time lost at work or with the people you are going to see or the sites to see) by staying on the ground.
And all this consideration still may not help you decide because it just may not matter. Sometimes the last indicator is your own last minute plans and how urgent they are. For instance, if someone passed by you right now and handed you front row tickets and backstage passes to see your fav artist in Oklahoma TOMORROW...well, then you might consider it a bargain to hop on a plane, even if you fly first class on a last minute flight, no matter what it costs...if attending this event was worth it to you.
Chances are, and I have been in similar situations...that you just have to weep over your losses so you don't lose your job trying to catch that plane and galavant with a rock star.
Isn't that just all the info you never thought you always wanted?

it would paintings in some areas, yet not in others. in the northeast, and consistent with possibility l. a. to San Fran, it would be achieveable, yet east Texas to Alabama, no way. there is hardly any public transportation there, so except there is a great number of air site visitors, and that they have hire a vehicle workplaces on the rail stations, no one might take the prepare. NYC to l. a. isn't a good theory the two, and that i'm particular it rather is not even being considered. the area is in basic terms too some distance. yet being waiting to get from Boston to ny in below a pair of hours could be great and provide airlines an excellent variety of opposition.

Greyhound Buses are quite cheap! Just go to each website and compare the prices! Flying is usually like 500, driving could be SUPER expensive because of gas prices. I have never ridden on a train before, and Buses are like around $100! :D

Walk...
Bus is almost certainly cheapest, but it is the longest trip.
Flying would prolly cost $800 - no airline flies nonstop from NY to Oklahoma (i think).
Trains only go to OKC. Most of them are from Texas and Kansas.
Driving will land you anywhere in Oklahoma - but gas is spendy.
So - depends on where you're going to in Oklahoma.

I'd say flying. I live in oklhaoma and there are barely any trains here, same with the buses. if you drive to oklahoma, it would be expensive because you would be buying food, gas,and all your other necessities. so flying would be the way to go

walk. j/k. it is the cheapest though and the healthiest. i'd say fly is the cheapest if you don't mind alot of connections. the other ways may be monetarily cheaper but it depends on how much you value your time. i'd say 200-400 one way

With an advance purchase ticket, Greyhound is the cheapest way to travel, if you don't have a car or don't need a car once you get to your destination. www.greyhound.com

Out of the list you gave, bus... The cheapest way is to go to your closest truck stop and hitch a ride...
