I would start a climbing 180 degree turn and get the hell outa there while getting above the weather... if you dont have your instrument rating, you probobly shouldn't be out there when tornadoes are even a remote possibility... haha... I would do the same thing flying commercially, although im already above the clouds by that point... It would be a bumpy ride, thats fur sure...

here is the best possible answer I can think of for your paper/speech.
If you are flying around an area that has tornado's, you are probably also flying around a thunderstorm. Cumulonimbus Clouds and the down drafts you would encounter would be violent, and you should not be anywhere near this area. Wind Shear would be a huge concern as well. You should fly 180 out as the others have said and be looking for a place to land, and you should have called 1800WXBRIEF prior to takeoff or checked DUATS and you might not have flown into such adverse weather conditions. People that continue to fly in that sort of weather in small aircraft become statistics, Scott Crossfield comes into mind (For those of you who don't know who he is, he is the first man to reach Mk II, and was killed when he flew into a catagory 6 thunderstorm a few years ago).
As far as what to do then, you can submit a PIREP (pilot Report) over to the closest ATC center or towered field, and tune into HWAS or weather a watch frequency (122.2). In a small plane, even with an instrument rating, flying in, near, or around such adverse weather can be a fatal mistake.

Tornadoes stand out like sore thumbs on radar. They take up little airspace, and although spin rapidly, move much slower than a aircraft. Remember that a tornadoe is producing debris that is flying off like missiles. Do not get anywhere close to it.
Avoid them.

Small planes and tornadoes dont get along well together, so a 180 and lots of throttle would be life saving.

You perform a maneuver called the 180. In other words, you turn around and get the heck out of Dodge.

you turn the opposite direction from the tornadoe, aply full power, and get your tail out of there. Contact flight watch on 122.0, and tell them who you are, what you fly, where you are, what you saw, where you saw it.
