Lot people say their style is the deadliest. Lot people say they are too deadly to spar. Many people make up bogus stories. Many claim MMAist or kickboxer would lose in street fight. And the list goes on. Do you really believe all of them? Because you shouldn't.
Martial arts doesn't teach you a thing beside how to fight. That's what a good gym should teach! People develope respect toward eachother because they rely on eachother to help eachother learn and get better.
Here's a example if you're new in gym and you start to spar with someone who is experienced. You may get your butt whooped but the opponent is still nice toward you because he/she want you to get better so he/she can have better sparring partner. So they'll help you out. Then when you're more experience, you'll do the same to those who are new. It's same as in almost everything else that require you to work with other people.
All "asian" good feeling, live with harmony, etc.... are totally B.S. Only LARPers (Live Action Role Play) do that. Because they live in fantsany world where martial arts is a magic and absolutely no one who learn their style is a disgrace.
I do Muay Thai and I can say most of people in my gym are a decent people. They probably don't bow to everybody, talk about eastern phiosophy, try to be one of the asian, etc... But they're a decent, good, and polite people.
There's big different between being a good person and a puppet. In fact I suspicous about 90% of people here are a puppet.

The first things you learn in martial arts should be how to breath correctly, and respect.
If you no breath you die, and if no respect for others you may die.

Through the many hours that it takes to learn not only the fighting but also the history you reach harmony with yourself and mankind. That is only if you are a true martial artist.

It isn't like teaching math or grammer. There are no specific sessions devoted to self respect. It's something that develops naturally in a good school.

They don't!
Principals like these and drive, ambition, and will. are not taught and never have. They are only learnt through experiance. Try as any of us might we cannot force someone to understand these thoughts, but only display them and hope others catch on.
