Be specific. How has it helped you grow spiritually? How does it apply specifically to your life? What has it taught you about yourself and about the Lord?

Faith, that is AWESOME!!! Way to look at your neighborhood as your mission field (and get to eat cookies too!). Have you gotten to lead anyone to the Lord doing this ministry?

Live Like You Believe: That's so true. John is just full of MEAT! It's all about Jesus and His divinity.

IAMZERG, don't feel bad. I beat myself up all the time too. Then I remember that if I didn't sin then I would be God abd Romans 3:23 would be a lie, ya' know. Keep your chin up and serve God! When you're busy serving you won't have time to dwell on your weaknesses (and a lot of times you won't have time to sin either).

svstar91, that's cool. I love studying about the armor of God! My favorite passage is Ephesians 4-6 actually. I love how Paul challenges believers to live their faith. Put off the old man and put on the new. I really love the specific examples he gives like "Let him who stole steal no more but rather work that he may have to give those in need." This is the key to changing your behavior. Putting off anf putting on. I also love how he tells the believer that if they are going to live for God they better be ready for battle!

Nana, I'm so glad you got saved and I'm very excited to hear how the Lord has changed your heart! Sound's like you're applying some Ephesians 4 in your life (putting off the old and putting on the new). Isn't Philippians an awesome book?! Replace those old thoughts with those that are true, virtuous, praiseworthy...." God will continue to renew your heart and mind.

Psalm 37: 4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

I have been wanting to be a missionary oversea's. But because of my health issue's It hasn't allowed me to do so. So the Lord knowing my desire to do so (and through much prayer) I have started a block ministry once a month of doing a cookie ministry. A different cookie each month. And just getting to know my neighbors each time I bring over the cookie's. And because I was delighting myself in the Lord that is how I believe the 'desire' in my heart for that answer to prayer was answer.

Though there are other answer's to prayer that speicif one was right for this time and place.

Philippians 4:8 - Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I used to believe that nothing was good, that everyone had a bad motive behind all their actions, that this world was the worst place to be. I was negative, hard, critical, suspicious, unable to trust, cynical, pessimistic about everything and everyone. I was also full of fear, insecurities and had no self worth. Even after becoming a Christian I still kept much of the same attitude. But the Word of God tells us to be transformed by the mind of Christ and I asked God to help me to take control of my thoughts and transform my thoughts to His way of thinking, and He led me to this verse. I put it to practice and in doing so He has delivered me out of all that negativity and has given me a whole new perspective and attitude towards everything and everybody. My cup is no longer just half empty, it's overflowing! I'm actually a joyful, healthier person. The Word of God is very powerful if we practice it.

My fave: a million Corinthians 13:4-7. "Love is long suffering and variety. Love isn't jealous, it would not brag, would not get overvalued, would not behave indecently, would not look out for its very own pursuits, doesnot grow to be provoked. It would not save account of the wear. It would not have a superb time over unrighteousness, yet rejoices with the actuality. It bears all issues, hopes all issues, endures all issues." Many a marriage that i've got attended had those Scriptures spoken aloud as component of their wedding ceremony vows, so after a mutually as, that's superb to renowned it and prefer it! it may appear somewhat idealistic, yet what's existence devoid of attempting to realize a objective?

"The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord."

That is seriously powerful stuff. As Horace Kallen pointed out, the Job story is essentially a Greek tragedy. Job accepts that fate governs his life beyond his ability to control, then he chooses to behave as he sees fit in his relationship to fate as personalized in the Lord.

This is really a Humanist story. Job stands upright like a Greek, not groveling and kneeling and bowing. He doesn't pray for things to be any different than they actually are. No. He demonstrates the kind of courage you see in Hector when he prepares to go forth from the gates of Troy to meet Achilles, as told by Homer. Yes, Job is really like a Greek.

What matters is not whether or not you can change things; God has gone fishin' and doesn't really care. What counts is the manner in which you meet your fate. Job possesses the untranslatable Greek quality of *arete*.

The Book of Job is said to be the oldest book in the Bible, and I think it is one of the most informative.

'But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.' (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB)

Jesus Falsely Predicts the End of the World

"And there will be strange events in the skies – signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!"

"Then he gave them this illustration: "Notice the fig tree, or any other tree. When the leaves come out, you know without being told that summer is near. Just so, when you see the events I've described taking place, you can be sure that the Kingdom of God is near. I assure you, this generation will not pass from the scene until all these events have taken place. Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will remain forever" (Luke 21:25-33 NLT)

Currently one of my top favorites is Isaiah 62:6-7: "I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the L-rd, do not keep silent, and give Him no rest till He establishes and till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth."

It's helped me to grow spiritually because I have realized how much the L-rd wants believers to pray for Israel to come to know their Messiah. The call to pray constantly is really radical in much of the Church. We so often limit prayer is to church services, small-group times, or personal study time ... praying during those times is good, but the L-rd does not rest. He does not want us to rest either. It's such a challenging concept ... this passage has really messed up my view of prayer.

So I am trying to figure out how to apply the concept of unceasing prayer to my life--how to be an intercessor who is set on the wall of prayer as a constant watchman. How can I be more like Epaphras, who Paul described in Colossians 4:12 as "always laboring fervently in prayers"?

I love this passage also because it encourages me to ask the L-rd for a heart like His. He will not rest until He sees all of Israel saved.

Basically it lets you know that you can take every precaution and do everything necessary, but it is all in Gods hands. Always.

My favorite book of the Bible is Ephiesions. lol I hope I spelt it right. It was the book that we studied... my youth group and I at a 1 week event called C.I.Y. Christ in Youth. www.ciy.com.
my favorite part of it was when it says put the armor of God on. whoa consider the chances that its right in front of me! here it is:

EPHESIANS 6 :10-18
10 Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our sruggle is not against flesh and blood, but of the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done evrything to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the BELT OF TRUTH buckled around your waist, with the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extingquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the HELMET OF SALVATION and the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, which is the word of God.18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Revelation. It tells us of our future, so we can know how to live today. It is a bittersweet message with it's hope and warnings. It motivates me to share my faith and help answer ques here if I can. It gives me joy and hope for our eternal future with The Lord in Heaven! It has taught me to love others enough to want them to go to heaven also and not to just be content with my own future assurance .

Psalm 148. It is said at Lauds, the morning office. It is a hymn of praise to God for all of creation. It is a good way to start the day.
