I agree with you, Alamo. Let them work. And to all the people that 'worked in the field', were dishwashwers, etc, what do you do now? I've had menial jobs too, and the fact of the matter is, while I did what I had to do for the time being, I couldn't wait until I could get a better paying job.
I dont' think illegals like scrubbing toilets either, but unfortunately that is the price they pay for being here illegally. They are not going to be able to work on Wall Street. Except for 10 states, their children can't even pay in-state tuition. So what are they going to do without access to higher ed? I guess we'll have more lettuce. So, we can either let them work where they can, or we can pay more tax dollars and support them through the government's social welfare programs.

I don't need to be.
I only need to know that our legal immigrants and Americans would take those jobs if they were raised out of the poverty level. That would be a raise of 40% which would cost an American family of 4 $10 more per YEAR since labor is a small part of the cost of produce.
I'd support that, in any event. I'd also support greater subsidies to agriculture if necessary since I ABSOLUTELY don't want to be dependant on foreign food as we are on foreign oil, particularly with the population estimates the UN released last week.
Since agriculture's big problem is that even illegals don't want to do those jobs once they get their feet on the ground (they want to go to construction and better paying jobs Americans ABSOLUTELY want to do) keeping on bringing in waves to serve agriculture puts them into the other employment areas.
As to why I should care, it also leads to overcrowding our schools and draining services that are already in danger as our baby boomers reach retirement age.
And there is one tiny other thing. America is not just a bank account or a gross domestic product. America is a COUNTRY and we need to stick together.

Because our immigration system checks for contagious diseases, felonies, and measurable skills for getting the minimal jobs in the country without going on welfare, at least, and these people don't want to go through that checklist?
I have a daughter. I don't want such people any where near her. I have friends who are of Mexican, South American, and Central American ancestry. These are AMERICANS! United States Citizens or are well on their way to becoming such (YEAH!), but the people you speak of are criminals by the very act of what they have done, and don't want anyone to know that they might have a contagious disease, felonies, or a desire to take advantage of our system.
Are there honest ones?
No. The second they choice that path it is like saying, "They only killed one man. That doesn't make them a murderer!"
They only broke (and continue to break) one law, that makes them a lawbreaker, a criminal, and worthy of our contempt as well as the contempt of any other American, whatever ancestry they might be of.

How do you know what I am not willing to do? Illegals never called me up and asked me "Would you be willing to do this job? If not, can I have it?" I am so sick of this tired argument "Work that Americans don't want to do." THAT IS PROPAGANDA. You want to buy that BS, fine but I don't and I WON'T. It's not working!!
I have busted my butt all of my adult life in 123 degree heat, so don't tell me about outdoors work. Before that, I worked in a variety of jobs from dish washing to housekeeping, and I did not do it because I wanted to--I did it because I HAD TO, just like illegals.
Do you expect me to buy the crap that illegals love to pick cotton, and scrub toilets? Illegals have to feed their kids, and Americans do too!
What makes pro-illegals think that Americans don't need jobs, even scummy jobs to survive? What makes pro-illegals think we are all financially secure, and have money trees in our backyards?
Do pro-illegals think all Americans can afford to go to college? High School diploma is not good enough, thanks to illegals!! Illegals have taken all of the jobs that do not require trade certifications or college degrees.
If there were only a few thousand illegals in this country, no one would care, but the whole darn country of Mexico is trying to move over here. Do you really think that there is an endless supply of crappy jobs for you guys to fill here? There is a surplus of illegal aliens now, thanks to the wave after wave of millions of illegals over the border over the last 5 years.
When the crappy jobs run out, then illegals and their kids (who speak English) with fake IDs are going to try to fillup the jobs that you think we do want.
Don't pro-illegals realize that with companies sending jobs to Asia that more and more Americans are finding less employment opportunities? You don't care though do you? It's all about La Raza.
Don't be mad at us for sticking up for the working class Americans, you should be mad at your government(s) for not taking care of your people so that you wouldn't have to come here for survival.
We are fighting for our survival, and I can guarantee you that Americans will win.

I totally agree with you if that job is not done no person could have fresh vegetables, fruit. yeah sure illegals do something illegal but think about it this way how about the economy we would have less money in the united states if more illegals were not here. our population is growing and don't know about all of you but I think its good and isn't this country which was made for to have liberty and a second chance.

by that logic, lots of things that are illegal should be legal.
but i still say that this kind of talk has it's basis in employers who want to try to find a way to not pay a fair days pay for a fair days work.
as if employers care about the rights of illegals...
