I'm in a friends with benefits situation with a guy for almost 5 years, but he treats me more than that. In fact, we always spend time together, I've met his parents and friends, he always includes me to a lot of his activities, and even helps me with putting up a small business making us spend even more time together. With all this, it makes me ask why isnt he initiating anything, like formally introduce me as his girlfriend if he is doing all this.

Have you asked him.
It sounds like he gets all the benefits of a relationship without having to commit to one.
If you are not happy with the way things are going then tell him exactly how you feel.
He is either going to say he is fine with things the way they are.
or
He considers you his girlfriend and did not think much of it.
Either way talk with him that is the only way you will get the answer you seek.

the problem is your his friend with benefits. if you wanted to be serious with him, you should not have let that arrangement go on for so long. there is a big difference in being the atcual girlfriend and being treated like one. think about it, like means similar, not necissarily wholly the same. End that relationship with him and find someone who wants you to be their gf. My question to you is why would he by the cow if he's got the milk at home?

Maybe he has been hurt in the past and is protecting himself..let him know that you care a lot for him and would never hurt him.
