Whenever a cat goes outside the litter box, you need to take them to the vet to rule out a medical reason. Cats can be deterred from using the litter if they experience pain whilst in there, this could be caused by a bowel or a urinary problem, cats are usually at death's door before they start showing symptoms and behavioural changes are the first sign that your cat is sick.
If you rule out a medical cause, then it could be he's attracted to the pheremones accumulating in the drain. We rinse off sweat when we bath or shower and in the sweat are hormonal substances or pheremones, cats are attracted to them. They interpret it as another cat marking it's territory and so they will defecate over it to claim it as theirs.
There are a couple of things you can do. One is out the plug in the bath and leave a little cold water in the bottom. Bear in mind that if it's medical cause he will start going somewhere else like on your bed or the carpet.
The other thing you can do is to retrain him, confine him to a room with his litter food and water and bed until he starts using the litterbox again.
Ensure that his food and water aren't too close to where the litterbox is because can't won't eliminate and potentially contaminate a food or water source.
It is important to rule out a medical problem first as that is often the case when a cat is inappropriately eliminating.
There are a few other things to consider, stress can cause inappropriate toileting. A change in litter, food, moving the box, strangers in the house, a change in cleaning products, new furniture or furnishings can all cause this. Anything new or different could upset your cat.
Sometimes a too clean or not clean enough litterbox is the cause of these problems.
An entire male is more likely to exhibit these problems than a neuter because they're more territorial and are driven by hormones so if he hasn't been done, that could solve the problem. At 6 months i'm guessing his testosterone is coming into play, it's like puberty, only they don't understand what is happening to them.

Your cat may not like the size and/or location of its litter box. Or it may not like the litter. Is the box big enough for your cat to turn around in? And where is it? If it's in an area that people are constently walking by it's not private enough and should be moved. You may think that only humans want privacy but you're wrong!
My cat would poop in the bathtub when she was mad at me!

My cat have done the same when I moved the litter box somewhere else.
Is the litter box clean? Is there enough gravel in the box? Is the gravel dry enough?
Leave the box close to the bath for a while so that your cat learns to use the box.

Be sure his litter box is clean. Do not use a perfumed litter, cats don't like it. Some cats don't like the feel of some types of litter, so you might try different brands. Be sure the litter box is in a quite place far away from his food and water.
