Not sure if I understand the scenario or not, but this is what I'm assuming...you have been taking .5 mg of xanax for 7 nights now, and you've been experiencing pain for 2-3 days. If that assumption is correct, and that you have not stopped taking the xanax, then I would have to first rule out that the xanax is making you sleep so deeply that your not moving around much, or maybe not breathing correctly, and oxygen is not getting to your muscles at night. Another idea that comes to mind is something totally unrelated to the xanax, but those symptoms sound exactly like those of a magnesium or potassium deficiency...go eat some chocolate and bananas.

It does sort of sound like withdrawal to me, too-I got restless legs really bad when I went off ativan, but I had been taking it a long time. Still some people can get weirdo effects that are less typical. If you can't get hold of the doc, can you ask the clinic to have another doc call? Sometimes people get psyched out taking pills and get the nocebo effect, which is side-effects that aren't exactly real, they are psychological (works the same way as the placebo effect, but in a bad way instead of a good way. the nocebo effect is how witch doctors killed people with their curses!). Since you could be one of those ones with weirdo severe side-effects, I would get hold of another doc, if you could, if the side effects (if that's what they are) are really upsetting you. maybe you have an 800 line to a nurse thru your health insurance company?
All the best to you!!

If you're having unpleasant side effects from Xanax or any other perscription drugs, I would recommend that you speak to the doctor who prescribed the drugs in the first place. He or she needs to know about this so that they can adjust the dosage or try another drug or drugs that would be effective without these side effects.

One .5 mg Xanax (if that's all you have been taking) for seven nights is not sufficient to cause withdrawl symptoms. what you describe is not a side effect of Xanax

Spasms are symptom of Xanax withdrawal and you should confront your doctor about immediately, however pain is not a usual symptom of Xanax (In fact it's benzodiazepene and normally kills pain)

Since the doctor who prescribed it is on vacation, call the pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist...they can tell it you if it's a possible side effect.
