The only reason I am looking for a helmet is for recreational riding.... not racing or anything

Recreational riding can be just as dangerous as racing.
A question you should ask is, How much is my head worth
to me? Spend as much as you're head is worth to you.
I ride myself, but I don't scrimp on my helmet, my head is
priceless. I use a Arai, but if you can't afford a quality helmet,
get one that is DOT approved.

You can get a serious head injury just as easily riding in the back yard as you can racing. Get a Bell.
