It works for some people but causes others too much intestinal woe to keep it up. However, the problem with any diet that's real restrictive is not losing the weight - it's keeping it off once you revert back to non-diet mode. You definitely need a plan for healthy eating when the diet is over. Good luck with the diet, hon! I'm on one too!

I have tried this diet, way back when. I was kinda nuts b/c my boyfriend at the time said I was fat when I weighed 130 lbs at 5'4". Thought I needed to look good for him, so I only ate meat, too much meat, and a bit of veggies, also diet soda. Drinking alcohol consisted of straight liquor or lite beer. In 2 weeks I had lost 12 pounds! It took another couple of weeks to lose an extra 3 lbs. So, now I was at 115, my clothes looked great on me, but I felt physically horrible. I couldn't sleep, had no appetite, had no energy, and when I did eat carbos, I would gain back the weight. It really made feel like I had an eating disorder! If you can stick with such a restricted diet, than do it, but every time you go off and on this diet, your body knows what is going on, and you will lose less weight each time you try, just from personal experience. Personally, I have tried it too many times and have realized that eating a low glycemic range of foods is the most friendly for all of us...

It works, just like all other "diets". My whole family was on the Atkins diet, and for a healthily young person it does work for a while. Once you stop, you gain the weight right back. I was on it too and had some success, but after about two weeks, I was constantly tired. You need those complex carbs for energy. I feel that a diet high in whole grains and fiber works better for me. The average person gets about 3-8g of fiber in their diet and need about 30g. I lots of vegetables(steamed), limited red meat, wheat bread, wheat pasta, no starches in my evening meal, limited fried foods and stay away from high fructose corn syrup(check labels it's in alot of foods, soda being one) If you deprive your body the things it needs it will retaliate and you will crave those foods even more. If you eat healthy all the time and try to not "diet" in the long run you will be better off.
