Sometimes when I burp it tastes and smells like vomit but nothing comes up. Sometimes I get stomach cramps too and loose bowel movements if not diahorea. If its serious then I get a bad case of extreme sickness that doesnt last more than 20 mins then it passes. Its horrible and I want to know what it happens. When I was little if my parents said im getting smacked when i get home because I made them mad then I would get this feeling with the vomit smelling burps and guaranteed I would be sick in the middle of the night. Normally I dont vomit anymore but its horrible and im scaring my hubby away haha.

Gas (flatus), burping, and bloating are all normal conditions. Gas is made in the stomach and intestines as your body breaks down food into energy. This is a combination of methane and hydrogen. Moreover, the normal intestinal flora in the large colon absorbs most of the bacteria. Some are released as gas via burping.

Gas and burping may sometimes be embarrassing. Bloating, which is a feeling of fullness in the abdomen, can make you uncomfortable. Although many people think that they pass gas too often or have too much gas, it is rare to have too much gas. Changing what you eat and drink can sometimes cut down on gas and relieve discomfort caused by gas.

Belching or burping (eructation) is the voluntary or involuntary, sometimes noisy release of air from the stomach or esophagus through the mouth. Burping 3 to 4 times after eating a meal is normal and is usually caused by swallowing air. Other causes of burping include nervous habits or other medical conditions such as gallbladder problems.

However, in your case, it sounds more like a case of stress and anxiety. Upon chronic hyperventilation or overbreathing, you put too much air in your stomach which causes the burping and the associated bloating (fullness); nausea and vomiting, gas, and consequently, anxiety. . Burping accompanied by nausea and anxiety is associated with a problem called acid reflux. Taking antacids would greatly help this too.

Furthermore, whereas this is a case of attention- getting.in your childhood. You probably let off the hook whenever you're in trouble. It's a defense mechanism. Now, in your adulthood, probably this childhood experience is carried over.

For the present; you might try to confront what's causing this stress or anxiety, causing you to revert back to this old habit. Unpleasant experience sometimes cause the return of unpleasant memories.
