If you mean the theology of Christianity, then of course it is important. It is vital.
If however you mean the theology of specific denominations of Christianity, to my way of thinking I would say no. I love God and worship Him every day but I know (and so does every Christian) that the Bible was written by man, not by God himself. Even though most believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God (and that I believe is true to a degree) I still think that man's own interpretation may be mixed in with the primary concepts that God puts forth. After all, why would the men of yesterday be any different than the men of today. Interpretation is what makes the various denominations different from one another.

Yes it's important because if you don't have your theology straight you can fall for all sorts of false doctrines where a person cherry picks verses from the Bible and constructs a teaching that sounds reasonable but goes against the whole counsel of God's word.

I believe theology to be very important to Christian belief, to Christian faith.
Theology tells us many things about the times, the settings, the thinking, the faith of those who went before. This lets us understand the things we do and why we do them.
It gives us a picture of the history of our beliefs, of our church. It shows us why we have the parts of our religion that still exist today.
Theology is a study, a study of our religions, Christianity included.

Theology is very important.
2 Timothy 2:15
Be diligent to [Rom 6:13; James 1:12] present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling [Eph 1:13; James 1:18] the word of truth.
It is very important to logically and intuitively study the word of God in an inductive, in-depth way to show ourselves approved.

Virtually every academic field finds evidence and then builds theory around it, making these fields rational. Theology is a notable exception, making it mere rationalization.

Well I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but the bible has a verse "study to show thyself approved, a workman who need not be ashamed". I'm also instructed to have "an answer for every man for the hope that is within me". I think a Christian is better equipped to be edifying to his or her brothers and sisters in the faith, and helpful to those with questions about God, and Jesus....if they know their Word (the bible).

Politics and christian theology the two conceal a huge spectrum. you have very liberal christians that are democrats, very conservative christians that are republicans, and an surprising form of christians that help motives no longer inevitably linked with the two occasion and are in many situations the "swing" electorate. regrettably, the term "christian" has been fairly plenty hijacked with the help of the ideal wing non secular fruitcakes and so the be conscious has replace into linked with the ideal wing political fruitcakes.

Yes, theology is the study of God. It is very important to know God as Jesus said, "This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." How can we possible know God if we don't first learn all we can about God?

Not really. I am a self-read Christian. I get all the keys to wisdom and the keys to Heaven, and the confirmation that I will go to Heaven ...... simply by following Jesus' Instructions in the Bible. - I do not love Jesus because he is God's son, I love God because he is Jesus' father. -- smiles
Jesus did not tell us to worship God; he said to love God.
