I mean this girl I like thinks I'm funny and stuff, and likes my personality. But whenever i send her an e-mail or IM, she just ignores it. Does this have to do with the "Out of sight, out of mind" quote, or is this something else? Answers from females would be appreciated.

Well, i know she thinks I'm funny...I mean she is literally rolling on the floor whenever she laughs at my jokes and stuff.....and I also do talk to her in person.....but somehow its different online....she never seems to respond to me.

Well the thing is whenever she engages me in conversation its easier...but I'm a shy person at heart....so its hard to start a conversation with a girl in my case....i just have this feeling i would get shot down.

So, what you are saying is... you want her to 'like' you for more than your sense of humor 'and stuff'. What else do you have to offer her? Engage her in a conversation about HERSELF! Draw her out, if you have the nerve, and ask her about her favorite class, or best friend, or what she likes to do on weekends or after school. Do you have an interest in something, like dogs or cats or rats or fleas? THEN, ask her if she does too! Funny is for friends; if you want her for more, BE more! You have a LOT to offer, and I can tell by the fact that you came to the WHOLE YA world of cynics, losers, winners, whiners, and the rest of us, to get help. YOU DA BOMB!
Actually, maybe she doesn't think you are her 'type', w/e that means! LOL. Don't work up a sweat over JUST one girl while you are young. There are sooooooooo many!
BEWARE of girls like JENIFIRE! They are not your type.

lol, and we girls say that guys are confusing. jesus.
sometimes, i read an email, and i put off the reply until later, and i forget completely.
another reason would be that she likes you as a friend and probably wants to just back off for a while cuz she doesnt want you to get serious with her.
why dont you try talking to her in person? its a lot easier. and if the girl realy likes you, she will enjoy talking to you

How do you know she thinks you're funny? I'm not trying to worry you or make you paranoid, but there have been times when I've laughed at a guy's jokes just to make him feel good. I probably even told him he was funny. But then I ignored all of his calls (because he wasn't funny and I wasn't into him).
