The question is rather vague. There are many types of beams in construction. Basically in building structures you have 4 materials: wood, steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry.

As far as the "types" of beams, that is open to interpretation.
You can have tubular beam, I beams, T-beams, double tee beams, built-up girders, etc.
