well then u pretty much have just defined religion as a whole with out the what if....and you replace bad people with greedy/power hungry people.....and make that into a answer not a question

This is not provisional, for such people and such religions now exist and have since time immemorial.
Witness the likes of Wall Street, Madison Avenue, of Hollywood, and Capitol Hill...
Do you not think and not observe that bad people are extant and do thrive and will continue to for as long as their is humanity.
Who are the parishoners of the church but the masses? Are they any less blinded than any found in any orthodoxy, amid any church or doctrine or any civilization now or in the past or found in any "book" -- why not call such scripture, The Holy Fear ?
These are they who worship the commercial gods of mankind, whose savants and jolly talkers and pulpit bangers are no less than those selfsame we see at the stock exchanges, on the public broadcasts, which hawk their wares, piping hot to dupe the securities-obsessed and fearful.
These are the parishoners -- the common man, the common woman -- deceived, though they know it not, and who aim to reserve a place not in heaven but here on earth driven by incentives founded on and which pray to false hopes.
Is not any religion created by Man, by Woman -- and not God?

DeRopps said that organized religion is the world's oldest con game, and it is a safe one, because no one can return to demand his money back if he is not satisfied with the heaven for which he paid preachers so much for years. Priests who concoct religions are swindlers with no principles.
