...experience, etc.
I am a soon-to-be graduating marketing student looking for a corporate-type marketing job and trying to prepare myself...how to write a resume, cover letter, how to talk in an interview, etc. and really understanding what an employer wants will help me a lot in the process.
Thanks a lot :)

WHAT ARE EMPLOYERS LOOKING FOR :

More than anything else , they’re looking for integrity .

They want somebody that’s honest , so tell them the truth .

Competence is very important , but there are a number of things which you should present .

But , number one , integrity comes at the head of the list .

And beyond that is innovation . I just think that employees need the sparkle of innovation.

And beyond that is competence . You’ve got to know what you’re doing . You need to be competent .

And you put together competence , integrity , and innovation , you’ve got a combination that will take you far .

Okey first step when ever I want to hire a worker. I want these 3 things. Refrances, Education, Achivments. I want to make sure your a good workers and for marketing I will look for your people skills and speaking skills. My motto for marketing is " Put a sense of need in a persons mind" do that all the time and you will be the best. Also you might wanna take account management because if you are serious then you will make your own company and you need to manage finaces. Try useing word for cover letter and resuma'. You might not think so but a little picture or logo on your cover letter does wonders and helps me to rember you if no one else does it.

If you have any other questions mail me at joshcstringer@yahoo.com ill be happy to help :-)

You have to be very SENSITIVE as to what the market is telling you and CREATIVE enough to take actions. Marketing means identifying the needs, wants and demands of your customers. Knowing what your customers wants is a non-stop process. A marketer should be able to make a FIT between the product and the customer's preferences.

In your situation, you're like a product that's trying to make a fit to a customer's preferences. Your CV and cover letter would really help you a lot in selling yourself. If you need help on this, you may refer to Monster.com. Other than getting ideas/hints on how to make a good CV and letter, how to handle an interview etc, you can start searching jobs that you think you'd qualify.

Hope my pointers help. Good luck!

First of all, relax!, so you have a diploma and all the "impressive" paper work, title and so on.
Now, anywhere you go, you have to reflect confidence in what ever it is your going to do. be true and honest, honesty works like magic!! keep in mind that the real school is out there in the work field, getting into the others shoe, strategies that make sense, angles that no one else sees or thinks of, you have to ask, listen, learn, always try to go the extra mile- talk to people in the profession, ask them all the questions, people like that and will help you get a better picture. never be discouraged! be creative, humble, detailed, a little psychology won't hurt. think of what made you go to school in the first place?! if you truly believe you have it, then you'll make it happen. good luck!

Results. That's what we look for in applicants.

Show me the projects you have worked on and the ideas you developed. If you don't have paid experience, show me the work you've done for charities or with intern positions.
