I don't think I'm extreme in my beliefs, but I am sure of the Word of God ....and of God Himself. I'd say steadfast is a better word.

It is for many, many reasons. For some it is because they live the religion. It is their faith and their salvation.

There are also those who fit into that "fanatic" category. You've seen them. Guns blasting away, bombs going off, lives to save, lives to eliminate ..... all in the name of the god they follow, all in the name of the people they follow. No wonder, just look at the people their religions are based on.

Christianity, for example, is based on a God who let hundreds of thousands of people die in battles and fights, in a flood, with fire and brimstone. It is also based on a person that is said (and I believe it to be so) to be God's only son, who lived, preached/taught, then died and rose from the dead after being dead for three days. Sounds kind of extreme doesn't it?

Most other religions have equally fantastic people within their basis or beginnings.

Bottom line is, if you believe your religion to be true, what's not to be extreme about?

I have never, and will never take action AGAINST someone because of their unbelief. As a christian, I feel that we should let the love of Christ shine through us. I think of that love for everyone as a kind of beacon that will call in the lost ships of this world and reunite them with my Rock, Jesus Christ. If people take actions against other people, they aren't showing them the love of Christ that dwells within us. Also, is it extreme for unbelivers to teach children their unbelief? Just curious.

Because most of it's the very basis of their belief. For instance, I'm a Christian. That means I'm a follower of Christ, who said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." That's why I can't understand why people don't see why Christians don't believe in the whole universal religion, that all roads lead to Heaven. For me to say that (or to not be extreme about it) would be to deny the very thing that I believe. It'd be very hypocritical of me to not be extreme.

I think anyone who has a strong belief in anything could be considered extreme depending on the point of view you approach it...

When someone believes something passionately, even it is seen as misguided by a whole host of others (and, again, this could be on any position on just about anything), it will be seen as "extreme."

It's all fear and power based. Those who are secure in their beliefs don't try to push others around.

Not all religious people. ;)

Have you ever believed in something so much, (Like gay rights, women rights, a certain religion ect.) that it was all you thought about for days on end? That's what happen, but they also have the power of their God with them pulling them even stronger.

Why, does it bother you when they disagree with you?
Are you religious? If not are you extreme in your belief? What do you mean by extreme anyway? Unable to be convinced they are wrong and you are right?

Because life is short, eternity is long and it's best to be prepared and sure where I will be spending it. I can't help but to be excited knowing Jesus!
