Jesus, is saying all the children born up to that time. No one can compare their son to John, the baptist.
What does,Luke 24 v 25 have to do with John?
Luke 24 v27. Jesus did not hide anything from his disciples. regarding all the prophesis, from the time of moses, up to when jesus, was born.
Luke 24 v 44. Again, Jesus is explaining, the prophesis of old. that predicted, his coming, and what would happen after his birth.

The crowd just saw
disciples of John B asking Jesus,
(using my own words)
"are you gonna get busy
and bust John B out of jail?...
or should he hire somebody else
to be the messiah..."
first part of Mt.11:11 (using my own words) humanly speaking,
anybody could be considered = or < less than John B because it was written he was the one to prepare the way for God. Mal.3:1
then Jesus gets right to the point.
His spiritual lesson:
Y'all are making John your religion instead of listening to his message about the kingdom. These great miracles are proof that your God came straight down John Street into town and here I AM. John ain't even gonna be around when people start to recieve their inheritance. I made up a new will and testament. John's a good guy, but lots of people lived and died before the church age. Now let's stop holding up John B like a brazen serpent..... and let's get this church thing rollin

All in all I see it as a teaching/admonition in being observant to the scripture and the life He has given us.
John the Baptist saw with own eyes what OT prophets "only" had predicted, therefore, John is greater. All believers after the cross are greater still, because we participate in the full understanding and experience of something John the Baptist merly forsaw - the actual atoning work of Christ.
In other words; it is right here in front of us, others have told us, there is no excuse for doubting or being surprised!

John's preeminent greatness lies in his function of announcing the imminence of the kingdom (Matthew 3:1). But to be in the kingdom is so great a privilege that the least who has it is greater than the Baptist.
9 [12] The meaning of this difficult saying is probably that the opponents of Jesus are trying to prevent people from accepting the kingdom and to snatch it away from those who have received it.
Peace and every blessing!

I quote " is greater that he. The greatness of John the Baptist in the old dispensation before the Cross fades in comparison to the high position every believer has had since Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, and the descent of the Spirit."
To make it any more complicated is not necessary.

John was seperated from God just like the rest of humanity we all must reconcile ourselves through Christ and if you do that you will take Christ perfect record to judgement and hence be greater than Johns earthly life
