My dog ate the mighty dog pouches a week ago. and the IAMS canned dog food a few weeks ago. He doesn't seem sick and he is eating his dry food normally. But should I still be concerned?? I'm a little scared now that I hear that it could possibly be rat poison that was in the food...
any suggestions would be great!!

Right now they are suggesting, as a precaution, that any dog who has ate the recalled food (make sure the product numbers match up) should have their dogs/cats tested for kidney problems. They are treatable as long as they are caught early enough (before there are really any symptoms).

I wouldn't be too concerned yet, as you say he seems to be eating normally. If you notice an increase or decrease in his water intake or uniation, however, rush to the vet asap.

Most of the dogs that are sick started acting sick within a few days of eating the bad food. If it's been a while and he's not showing signs he may be ok. If you want more peace of mind take him to the vet and have them run some lab work. If he's got any damage from the toxin it should show up in the lab work by now.

pay close attention to your dogs drinking and peeing since the effect of the food seems to be kidney failure.

It might be worth calling a vet and asking if your dog should be tested or what warning signs to watch for .

If he only had a little wet food there may not have been enough of the toxic material to make him sick.

Don t feed anymore wet food .If your dog hasnt shown any signs of being sick it most likely wont be .But again dont feed any more wet food till the crisis is over

If your dogs has not shown any signs then most likely he/she is ok. Don't give the wet food to them no more. If your really really worried then do what so many of us have, make your own dog food.
