Ok first I'd like to say HELL YEAH!!! Many men and women have fought and died for this country and those who say or do these things deserve nothing. In some ways I feel the ones who don't fight or try to be enlisted don't deserve anything either. I feel like my freedoms were handed to me by the men and women who fought and died for them. However I can't join the services because I can't keep my weight down and stay healthy long enough.
Now for green_m whoever you are. Maybe it's philosophies that have made people like YOU. People who don't understand that the American flag is MUCH more than a piece of cloth. It stands for the 50 states one of which I live in. It stands for the 13 colonies. White signifies Purity and Innocence; Red, Hardiness and Valor; Blue signifies Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice. So if to you that flag that drapes many coffins and that flag that raises above all that has fallen or been done wrong in this country is "just a piece of cloth". I hope you don't live in America because you my friend are NOT American and don't deserve to live here!

>I guess they forgot who fought for this country and gave them the right to say that and then have the nerve to burn the American flag. That is so disrespectful.
Sorry to break it to you, but the american flag is a piece of white cloth with some red and blue dye on it. I seriously think the world would be a better place if we cared more about people, people who are dying, people whose rights are being violated on a daily basis, and less about things such as pieces of cloth.
>I have fought for my country.
Really? You weren't fighting for yourself, or your philosophy, you were fighting for a country? I know how good patriotism SOUNDS, but when you look at it critically it really has some major flaws in it. See, a country is an inconstant thing; you can think it's the greatest thing in the world now, and five years from now it could have turned right around and become a hell on Earth ruled by a vicious tyrant. Where would you be then? Would you be proud that you fought for what is now busy oppressing you? This is the kind of problem you run into with patriotism. Much better to fight for a philosophy; philosophies never change, and you can always know just precisely how good what you're supporting is. I'm sorry to say it, but patriotism is just plain a flawed idea.

Amen girl and OORAH! This country needs to remember...
It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protestor to burn the flag."
- Father Dennis Edward O'Brian, USMC
God bless you, and thank you for your service. I wish you the best and only hope that some day soon American civilians will begin to realize who defends their right to disrespect anyone they please.

ANYONE who desrepects our Military Personell should not be allowed to live in this Country.
THEY (our Military Personell) are Defending us with the very blood that is being spilled and has been spilled in those
"God Forsaken Foriegn Countries".
Any one who disrespects My American Flag, doesn't deserve the breath they take up from the rest of us.
When I think of my Grandfather "God rest his soul", he was in the Army for 4 years and when his tour was up , he went into the Air Force and retired after 26 years, he served in Korea and Vietnam, Defending me, you and even those who would never understand. When he died he was still in the ready reserves and was Damn proud to have served. Because it was for US, not just the U.S.
I get very angry, that those who are disrespecting our Military Personell, cause they are disrespecting my Grandfathers memory.

One of our big problems in this country is that there are too many people who are free-loading on the freedom that others fought and died for.
Everybody cannot fight for their country, but they can at least appreciate the price that others have paid for our country.

I am glad I was not there. I am German-Irish and I have all the temper that goes with both ancestors. I would probably have gotten arrested.
The other ---holes who make me literally insane with fury are the human skidmarks that take their obscene hate signs and demonstrate against our troops at military funerals. I hope I never meet them (and they had better hope so too!).
