What qualifications do you need to become a highschool swim coach?

To be honest, it depends on the school, The swim coach for my high school team, has never swam and never went to any classes of any sort. If the high school needs a coach, then they will accept any help they can get, however knowledge of drills, all of the strokes, events, and having once swam competitively is very useful. I live in a rural area, so in areas outside of this one, I'm sure their are regulations but it depends on where you intend to coach. However in no state according to my research are you required to have any degree of knowledge, it is up to the schools to choose their coaches.
