Purely hypothetical. If God were portrayed as a woman in the Bible (I know he's not) do you think you would take the Bible as seriously? Do you think others would take it as seriously?

Please note: I KNOW he is not portrayed as a woman in the Bible. I'm just curious.

In the days when the teachings of the Bible were first told it was unlikely that a woman would have been followed as a leader by the people. However, the Bible does tell us that God has many female attributes. Check these verses out for example.

Dealing with "wings" as in Mother hen.
Luke 13:34
Psalms 17:8
Psalms 91:4
Ruth 2:12

John 4:10 speaks of Jesus asking for a drink from a Samaritan woman. Jesus then says that God would have given her living water. Giving water to others was normally a woman's job in that culture.

If God were portrayed as a woman in today's culture there would still be some problems with some people excepting it. However, I do not think I personally would have a problem with it. I don't normally think of God as a gendered being except for the pronouns I use.

Absolutely, and in fact, I'll take it a step further. We are made in His image. All of us, even women. Referring to God in the Bible I believe is a general term because God created man first and it was a patriarchal society. I don't believe God has a body in the sense of a human body. He is an ethereal spirit that exists of both male and female.

I think the current and existent God repsects women too much to permit open discussion of heavenly mothers and heavenly women if that is what you are speculating upon. Just look at all the disrespect, ridicule, debasement the real God gets in places like Yahoo Answers. I do not think the real God wants women to be subjected to this same kind of abuse. There fore, he protects their identity and does not mention them (Heavenly Mother) by name openly in the Bible..

Yes, if there weren't any changes and society just excepted what was actually in it, instead altering what they need and changing what they don't like. Reading back in history, and even today women have always been suppressed, because they are the weaker sex, the whores, and the Satan's. But in reality, God gave women the power to make miracles not men.

Some of the Hebrew Words for God are Feminine (If, I remember correct) but it has not stopped me from believing the Bible.

I really have to stretch my imagination to answer this question, but if the God of Heaven, the Creator of all things revealed Himself as a "herself" then I would have to accept that as the way things are since I don't create reality I just acknowledge it.

There is a reference to God as mother also or something like that. I've read it, in old test. He is our father and he is spirit. There is no "gender" per se in heaven..does it really matter?

I actually do not like to answer these type of "if" questions. But If He was revealed as Her in the Bible, I would accept it. : )
