Clue #2 - The castle wall faces the street in front, and a new housing developement to the east side, and a busy thoroughfare to the west side of the house.

Last clue: I live about 300 feet from the street; however, it does not give me peace and quiet to be that far from the street.

Actually I've heard that wall-building - the literal rather than the figurative kind - can be very therapeutic. I guess this is true of any "physical" activity, especially for those usually involved in the "thinking" professions.
